Our wedding falls around graduation season. Our venue is located near UC Berkeley, so although there are a lot of restaurants nearby, it’s either they’re booked or expensive. Any place you can recommend for 40-50 people that’s reasonably priced? We’re having BBQ for the wedding, so something different from that. I need helppppp

Could you be more specific about what you are looking for? Is there a tpye of food you like? What kind of ambience do you want? Are we talking anywhere in Oakland/Berkeley or are there specific neighborhoods you would prefer to be in? Do you have a range for your budget?
I’m sure we bees can come up with something to suggest, just need more specifics!!

Hi! Yea I didn’t really go specific with what kind of food because anything goes as long as it’s reasonably priced. And I know reasonably priced for that amount of people would mean it can’t be fancy. But it’s okay. With a lot of research my Maid/Matron of Honor did, it’s been very challenging for us. We might have to another route and not have a reheasal dinner.

I know you said no BBQ but Everett and Jones are cheap for things like that. Sushi might be cheap if you do it right. Kan Sai is nice – on telegraph. Mexican would be really cheap… I bet most any Mexican restaurant will work with you. Look around Jack London Square, Pizza would be fun. Zachary’s super good. If you want to do something more laid back why not pizza? Why not just order a bunch of sushi for everyone? Crogans in Montclair is cool cause they’re nice but not too nice and they have a little side room and they’re really easy to work with (~30$ per person). And then even cheaper might be Buttercup in Oakland and Jack London. The one near Fruitvale is nicer and has a better banquet room – probably perfect for a rehearsal dinner. And they let you take a few things from the menu to create your own menu. Just some options…

Silver Dragon in Chinatown. That is where I am planning on having my reception. It’s chinese so you can have a table of 10 for $150 depending on menu item on their main floor. They can accommodate around ~50 on the main floor. If you want the banquet room prices go up.

maybe try yoshi’s at jack london square in oakland?
they have a nice dining room (and i think their private dining room could fit your party!) and you can work with the woman in charge of private events to work out a set menu for your party – i’m not sure what the prices would be exactly, but when i inquired they were willing to work out 20 ish dollars per person meals, and it’d be a three course meal with an appetizer, entree, and dessert…

Have you checked Jupiter’s in Berkeley? They really only serve pizza and apps so it’s casual, but it’s pretty good pizza, you can do parties for about $10 per person, and you can reserve the entire beautiful outdoor area.
