Since you have time, I would wait to worry about fitting or ordering.

I know what you mean on the “baby belly” b/c with my son I got ALOT of stretch marks and just haven’t been able to achieve that “flat” belly I had.

I wore a dress that had the waist right under the breast line & then went out from there. I worked really great for me! Right under the breast line is normally the smaller area we have so bringing the focus to that area should help.

Here’s a pic… It was still un-altered and a little big on top but you can see how bring the attention to that smaller area really hides!

Hope that helps some! Good luck in your search! =)

Congrats!

Empire waisted dresses that flow out from just under the bustline help to hide the tummy area.

If I were you, I would hold off on dress shopping for a little while (but not too long since you’ll need some time to order the dress) until you start to feel more comfortable with your body again. Dress shopping should be fun and you want to feel good about it. Good luck!

Congratulations!

Have you considered Spanx? It can really do wonders for the tummy. I think you do have plenty of time to wait though, if you’re still trying to drop the 15lb. Being a fellow shorty, I know that’s a difference of two sizes sometimes.

For my April wedding, the latest I had to order my dress was June-ish. So you might have until July, depending on the designer.

Spanx gives you a nice flat surface. 🙂 Some Spanx include straps so you can attach it to your strapless bra to give you a more seamless look (and to hold the Spanx up if that’s an issue).

I am a baby first bride!!!  My son was also 9lbs (9.4oz) and I too gained 60 lbs (62 to be exact!)  I was 119 when we met….182 post baby….and was back down to a comfortable 140 several months after baby.  Now (couple years later) down to 126, BUT still have the dang baby belly!  : )  I got an empire waist dress and it definitely hides that bump I have.

I don’t see why you can’t look at dresses now, there are sooo many dresses that “hide” baby belly.    I say go for it, but you still have a lot of time until you really NEED to purchase a dress….so just have fun in the meantime trying on different styles….and I’m sure you look beautiful, baby belly and all!  : )   Good Luck!   Are you going to have your little boy or girl in your wedding??   : ))
