I’m in the inital planning stages of my August 2014 wedding and while I already have the big things booked (vendors, venue, etc), I’m struggling with the reception decor!
I’m having a hard time finding things that fit in to my desired theme without being too far left or right. My dream is to have an elegant wedding (venue is a Georgia country club ballroom) with some classy Southern accents. So far, all I’m seeing is rustic decor (chalkboard signs, wooden accents, etc) or overly glitzy (blinged out everything). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to marry the two themes to get a nice “Southern chic” decor? So far, I’ve come up with a few ideas: using silver mint julep cups for small “filler” arrangements between larger assortments, hydrangea floral arrangements, mercury glass vases and votive candle holders, and a few monograms scattered throughout.
I don’t really have any specific colors picked out, though I’m thinking of navy blue bridesmaids dresses with pearl accessories (of course!) and gray/navy groomsmen attire. Only restrictions are I don’t think the colors orange or red would match my reception space.
Also, my fiance is a big music fan so I was thinking some sheet music flowers and a guitar guest book on the sign in table. Other than that, I feel like I’ve run out of ideas! Any suggestions or pictures are appreciated. Thanks y’all!
