Dear Weddingbee bloggers:
I have been following tips and receiving ideas from weddingbee for a while… Mr.L and I actually eloped during the time we were planning the wedding…(long story) but Mr. L’s parents are divorced and had a lot to say about our wedding…They offered to help financially but the wedding was just getting out of control, the families couldn’t agree or would budge for each other, fighting, stress, and we weren’t the ones making all the demands! WE just wanted them to be there to celebrate with us! After much consideration (and counseling) on how to still respect our parents but yet keep our sanity, we decided to just say to them to save their money and that we would do it the way we originally envisioned it…ELoping and then having a gathering with just family!
So we are putting together a nice beautiful intimate reception dinner (about 30 guests) this May for our family(all of Mr. L’s parents and my parents included). My photographer was amazing when we called to tell her of the change of plans. The restaurant she recommended (instead of the lavish hotel I had booked with my in-laws) was simple, elegant and they have a great menu for that evening. We will have open bar and a sit down dinner with a cake. The linens are included and they mentioned there was no cake cutting fee~Everything was under our budget since that was what we had planned to contribute before we were doing the "big event" with his parents.
I kept the same color scheme. Chocolate Brown, Ivory, light blue cherry blossoms…I have the most wonderful bridesmaids and we made my invitations from PaperSource. They turned out beautiful!…I am a very busy bride and have to admit not as crafty as some of you ladies. However; I am excited about the wedding again and I thought about centerpieces with rectangular vases and mirrors…I have a few tables (about 6~including the cake table) but I want to make it so it reflects how happy we are to have them all there…Things are better now and we just want all our parents and stepparents to rejoice with us.
I was looking for placecards (I need them to make sure where the families are sitting) but I don’t seem to like them they just seem soo…busy! I just want simple and elegant and something they can take home and use…Any ideas ladies?? Also, I bought brown favor boxes (with cute cherry blossom tags) and cute brown ribbon with ivory stitching and I am planning of having both (place cards and chocolate inside the boxes) since we had to cut our guest list considerably I just want the dinner to be cozy and also carry our color scheme…
How do I make the colors I picked go well and the arrangements simple yet elegant? I understand that Brown may not be the best for summer but i *really* like that scheme. Besides, my girls couldn’t return their bridesmaids dresses and they want to wear them… I had already paid the photographer and I would like to get some ‘official pictures’ as a bride anyway.. I want to make it special for those friends who have stuck with Mr. L and I and for my girls for being gracious and understanding…Please send me any ideas and pictures for flowers, centerpieces, bridesmaids gifts, placecard holders…I will really appreciate it ! It’s cutting close and I don’t think I have much time~Deeply greteful~MeryOD
