- Wedding: April 2011
Hi all… this is my first time posting. My fiance and I are trying to find a cool, unique, affordable venue for our wedding next year! We’re aiming for late March / early April 2011 and looking generally within 1-2 hours (and public transport-friendly) of New York City. A lot of the places we like (Mount Gulian, Circa 1799, Barkaboom, Retreat at Art Omi for starters) would require a tent to accommodate our 130-150 guests. Never mind that our budget is not exactly in line with these venues. So, considering these thoughts:
1) It would be great to hear from any spring brides on the subject of heated tents and gambling on the weather.
2) I would LOVE to hear any suggestions from people who have been to or held amazing weddings in the spring in this area! We aren’t really interested in the banquet hall environment but considering them case by case, and are very open to weekend-long retreat type of places. (We already visited Bear Mountain Inn – love the idea of it, but their hall is in a dusty shambles, and the hotel reviews are not good!)
Why, oh why, isn’t there a Yelp.com just for wedding venues, where you could check off your price range, guest estimate, location, and other preferences??
