Tough call. It sounds like it may come down to whether or not you really want engagement pictures or not.

It’s really hard to say without seeing examples of each photographer’s work. Any chance you could post links?

Goodness…..I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either one.

Personally, I like photographer A better. She seems to capture the emotions in her photographs. There is nothing wrong with photographer B though and if you really want engagement photos then I say go with B.

From what you wrote, you sound like you prefer photog A.

I prefer photog A’s website, too — her photos definitely look higher quality/more artistic (but that music! gah! πŸ™‚ )

So my vote is A!

A seems to be a bit better than B and you seem to prefer her.  I would say talk to her about how B is giving you an engagement shoot and it’s something you really want and maybe she can give you a good deal on that and you’ll be able to afford both?  Otherwise, if the photographer is the most important and a bunch of us seem to think A is better, forego the engagement pix.

I prefer A by far.  B uses too many effects/editing, which is not something I personally like.  I think the photographs should stand on their own.

I would go with A, and maybe get engagement pics done by B if the cost is reasonable. A’s pictures were a lot nicer

@LavenderBride24:  The photographer choice was a hard one for me to make too.  When I was deciding between 2 photographers, one offered the engagement photos the other didn’t, price-wise they were the same, one had 10 years experience the other had 5years. I chose the one who offered engagement photos and 10 years experience. But in all honesty, I didn’t do much with the engagement photos-there are 2 in frames in our house right now.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with getting engagement photos from B and having A shoot your wedding.

I think I posted on your other post too, but I much prefer A and think her photos are a lot better and worth the price difference.  We also went with a photographer who was pushing the limits of our budget and there were absolutely cheaper ones, so we couldn’t afford to do an engagement session with her.  I did some research, found a more reasonable person to do the engagement pictures, told him up front it would just be for the e-pics and he was more than happy to do that!  They came out great, and I’m excited we put in the extra money for what I hope to be amazing wedding photos.
