I have a benefit dinner to go to with FH on Saturday. I will be meeting his boss and a few other of his co workers for the first time. I bit my lip last weekend, a cankor sore popped up and I need to rid of it before this Saturday…even though it probably won’t be all gone, I need to at least make it smaller.
it’s on the inside of my lip but you can see it when i talk 🙁
The salt water gargle doesn’t help.
Does anyone have any remedies worth sharing?

Honestly, that cankor sore medicine gel helps me a lot! It numbs it so I’m not “playing” with it [you know, with my tongue. I realize that sounded really gross haha]. I bit my tongue/lip more often than I care to admit haha, but letting it take it’s course to heal is usually all that can be done ..especially in two days. Then again, I don’t think I’ve ever had one that was visual to everyone else from just talking or whatever so we could be talking about two different things, I suppose ;].

I used orajel to numb mine for the pain, but from what I’ve heard it just has to run its course. It should be mostly gone by then though, they last from 7-10 days.

Warm salt water and PEROXIDE gargle. Yes peroxide. I was freaked out when I first heard but it works like a charm and is completely safe. Just don’t swallow. STAY CLEAR from orange juice, vinegar dressings and ANYTHING acidic, you could be making it worse.
I had one on my throat and suffered for weeks thinking I had a cold, pouring orange juice and airborne down my throat (very highly acidic) untill I went to the doctor and learned it was a canker sore due to stress. I couldn’t see the results, but it stopped hurting immediately so I guess it went away.

When I was younger my mom poured salt directly onto it. It hurt like a B but She made me make it sit and we did that a few times a day and it was gone quick

My Darling Husband and I use “Kanka” It definitely helps with the pain, but cankor sores usually don’t go away for at least a week or two. I get them constantly and they’re usually around for a while unfortunately!

I dont know if it will actually help it go away faster but Glyoxide will numb/clense it. Only OTC I can think of. You could try 1 part peroxide to 1 part water and gargle with it.

@ stephanie091512 its like right on the outskirts of my inner lip. I have voluminous lips so you can see it slightly. I figured that the best way for it to heal is for it to run it’s course, but I just was trying to throw my wishful thinking out there. haha.
The weird thing is, is that it doesnt hurt.

I might try straight salt on it…i will wait for FH to get home to help east the pain. lol.

@Frukaj: OMG The EXACT SAME THING happened to me a few weeks ago! And I was also dousing my throat with citrus products.

Mouthwash really helps me if I ever get canker sores — clears out the bacteria so that it can heal.

@jpalm13: Didn’t even think that it was possible, but it was awful!

@Frukaj: Peroxide user here too!! It stings like crazy, but it helps a LOT. I get them from time to time, and that’s my go to. I usually follow that with a salt paste (not salt water), and the two of those together seem to help kill any infection and speed healing.

I used to get a lot of canker sores. The medicated canker sore stuff really does work! It tastes horrible though. Sorry I don’t remember the name of it. It was a gel and maybe it’s the Kanka stuff mentioned by a PP.
