- Wedding: August 2012
Well, with just a few weeks until my wedding, I’m starting to doubt some of my choices and need a little assistance. I spoke my Mother-In-Law today and she expressed her worry that wedding is going to feel a little too backyard BBQ in formal wear so I’m wondering if anyone has ideas that could help me up the “formal factor” for my 75 person wedding.
Ceremony – 7:00pm. Outdoors in a gazebo on the grounds of a 4 room B&B in the country. The chairs will be white and undecorated. The aisle will be white rose pedals with brown and green leaves as a “canopy.” Each chair will have a bag of birdseed in a mesh brown bag. The music will be recorded instrumentals and quite traditional and the groom will be in a formal military uniform along with much of the groomsmen. The girls are wearing mismatched cream dresses.
Reception – 8:00pm. Also on the grounds of the B&B under a lighted white tent and the dance floor will be on nearby patio with a balcony for traditions (no DJ, but ongoing music). The centerpieces are lanterns and each guest will have a wicker place settings. The buffet will have finger sandwiches, potato salad, fruit skewers, and other light snacks. A full open bar will be available. The wedding “cake” will be carrot and white cupcakes (brought in by a professional vendor). Other decorations include a large lighted mason jar (meant to look like fireflies) for gift cards and chalkboard tiles used to describe the food selections. Favors are tiny mason jars filled with “Berry” candy.
We will have a brunch the next afternoon and will leave for our honeymoon following the get together.
Any ideas? I don’t want my guests to feel like it’s a graduation party or that I forced them to get dressed up to come to backyard BBQ!
