That sounds very frustrating! Unfortunately there’s not much you can do except keeping saying no and refusing to discuss/argue about it.

@abeenonymous:  Gosh…this is my mom with my brother’s wedding. My poor Future Sister-In-Law. My mom just keeps replacing people who she thinks won’t come. Invites have already gone out and she’s still trying to add people. So you’re not alone, and good for you for standing your ground!!

@abeenonymous: I’m betting these 30 more people will not have their feelings hurt and the Future In-Laws are just trying to pressure you into feeling guilty. Don’t. Hold your ground and smile. 😉

Keep saying no, and have your Fiance talk to them about it.  My Future Mother-In-Law is sad she can’t invite all her friends but it happens when our parents are the ones paying for everything!

Haha, I can’t imagine what I would’ve said after hearing that!

Heck No! 60-70 people is enough, even if they were contributing!

When I said we don’t have room they said “well, you aren’t going to get 75% attendance like you think.

We have not received the RSVPs yet, so we cannot be sure of that and cannot risk being over capacity.

You are inviting people from all over and most people aren’t going to come.”

We have not received all the RSVPs yet, and they are making their best efforts, I’m sorry, but we are at capacity and cannot invite more people.

and “these people are very important to us and we don’t want to hurt their feelings.”

We have a set number of invites that was decided long ago, we cannot change this now. I’m sorry you could not fit them in your original list, but the guest list is closed and we will not be inviting additional people under any circumstance.

@abeenonymous:  “No. sorry, you’re friends are just going to have to be disappointed.”

NICE!  🙂

@abeenonymous:  Next time you should just say my parents and I really  cannot afford it. If you would like to invite these people, I’d ask that you put in the extra $4800.00 because our funds are limited.

@abeenonymous And then I had this moment of ‘omg. did I just stand up for myself like that.” — love this. I usually just want to get along with people, but there really is a point in wedding planning that you have to be blunt. Good luck, your problem is common and always so frustrating!

Good for you, say NO!! If they want to invite more people then they can pay for those extra people that they want to come! It doesnt make sence, 70 extra of their friends at your wedding! that is a ton of people!!!!

Wait, so they’re not paying yet expect all these people who only THEY know to be invited. Time for a reality check with these insane and greedy folks. Stick up for yourself or else your family and you are going to be paying out the butt.
