Option 1, I think you get the wow factor still but it’s a little more restrained.

ketofly303 :  I really hope you have had a chance to see both of these rings for real and on your hand.  The reason I say this is that I thought I wanted a band with small diamonds down the band and the difference in the way they looked to me blown up on a computer screen and in real life was HUGE.  What I thought  loved – I did NOT.. so be careful before you pull the trigger!

I would try both of them on and then choose. I don’t personally like single halos but I love solitaires or double halos so I’d vote for ring #2. But as a PP said, there appears to be a significant airline between the first and second halos. I’d look for one with a tighter fit or ask if they can modify that.

ketofly303 :  just making sure you know Bee, those rings are highly magnified. The first one is 0.5 carats total weight for the whole ring, including the halo…which means the diamond is probably 0.15-0.2 carats. The price is ridiculous for a 0.5CTW.

burntorangeskies :  totally agree I’d continue looking. Plus when you look at the description you don’t even get told the specs of the main stone. Right there I would never buy from there.

Firstly, congratulations! This is a lovely dilemma to have.

Secondly, to be honest, I wouldn’t consider buying from this store. The stone is not graded and as another bee has pointed out, 0.50 carats is CTW (Carat Total Weight), this means that the centre stone will be 0.15 to 0.2 carats and the ring will not look the same as it does on the website in person.

You have a healthy budget. If I were in your position, I would buy a 0.80 J VS2 excellent cut stone (search for LD09955047 on the site) from Blue Nile and set it in this setting

    https://www.bluenile.com/uk/build-your-own-ring/diamond-halo-engagement-ring-platinum_45402?elem=img&track=product&vtype=sample

This ring would set you back 3,000 pounds and you will be getting a GIA graded, excellent cut centre stone that is at least 4 times the size of the one at goldsmiths.

    Good luck!

I agree with BEEelegant. What I liked online before trying rings on was literally NOTHING like what I ended up with (I wanted white gold and no halo. Ended up with yellow gold and a halo). What I thought I liked didn’t suit me. I highly recommend trying the rings on and that might make your decision easier.

I also agree that you could get a better ring for the price. But, in case you’re not aware, if you buy from a Goldsmith’s store (not online) you can use Tesco clubcard points towards Goldsmith’s vouchers and that makes it much cheaper.

I wholeheartedly agree with the single halo AND the not buying from Goldsmiths. You can get so much more for your money using Blue Nile, or 77 Diamonds, or many many other sites.

UK Bride to be too here! Me and my Fiance are going through to London to check out some stones in 77 Diamonds, as well as an indie jeweller who does BEAUTIFUL stuff.

I like option 1 better. I dont like how busy the multiple halos look.

They are both lovely.  I like the second one more though.
