Hi bees,
I’m trying to figure out what wedding band(s) I should pair with my engagement ring. It is a halo but doesn’t have a raised basket (or a matching band for that matter) so nothing already made with fit perfectly. I’m fine with a gap, but needs to be the right gap :). I’m also not opposed with getting something custom, but I just don’t know what I want. I’m thinking of doing rose gold bands. I want something that will be eye catching but not gawdy. I’m attaching rings I’ve tried on already. I don’t really love any of them.

I like the 3rd one the best. I agree with what you said about gaps being ok if it’s the right gap. I think the first one is too different stylistically, and the second is too much the same. What about a band with a gentle curve so you will have a small gap and so the ering stands out?
Maybe something like: http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/Annello-14k-White-Gold-1-5ct-TDW-Diamond-Curved-Wedding-Band-H-I-I1-I2/6771092/product.html?refccid=J2WNFPHVHQS32CSKNIH4DJ3PA4&searchidx=11

mrswilliams916: your ering is already so blingy, i would probably just get a plain band so it doesn’t compete. but it looks like you’re set on more bling, so of the ones you tried on (which i know you said you didn’t like any of them), i think the third is the best, as it’s the closest in style to your ering.
another option might be just a single “X” band, like this one:

ilovesophia: I love your x band! I don’t think i could get away with that though. There’s a twisty one in the next set of photos that I posted that is the same idea

mrswilliams916: oh that’s not mine, just an image i pulled off of google image search, lol. i’ll be honest, i don’t like any of the second set of bands you posted, except maybe the second to last (the straight milgrain one). i really dislike contoured bands – there’s something just way too matchy matchy about them to me – like a Talbot’s sweater set. i like the two twisted ones you posted on their own (which is also why i dislike contoured bands – you can’t wear them solo without it looking weird), but they’re both a bit much with your ring (of the two, the smaller closed one looks better though).
i personally think you could totally rock an X with your ring – it would sort of follow the lines of your ring, giving it a feel like a contoured ring, without actually being a contoured ring. just about getting one with the best angle in the “X” (some are bigger, and some are smaller). try one out, you might be suprised!
anyway, that’s just my humble opinion. end of the day, it’s your hand, so whatever you love!

Unlike PP, I like contoured bands haha, but in your case it might look a little weird if it has to go all the way around your halo (just seems really far to bend out). You could maybe have something custom made like this that would allow a band to sit flush if you wanted. Another bee recently had a little material shaved off the bottom of her ring to allow a band to sit flush (I think hers was a bezel set ring) and it turned out great.

ilovesophia: I don’t particularly care for the contoured band either. I kind of like the gaps. I read somewhere that the contoured thing is a recent trend. I’ll be on the lookout for an X band 🙂 What is your opinion on rose gold? I just don’t want my set to look like everyone elses!

I like the 2 twist bands and I also like the 2 bands that are “U” shaped or curved
