Need wedding vendor suggestions for NE PA for barn wedding on family farm?

Hi there!
I am in NE Pa and have a few ideas for you depending on what you are looking for. There isn’t too much up our way so it took me months of research! 🙂 What are you looking for? Photographer, catering, limo, music? you can PM me and I’ll help anyway I can
Jo
THANK YOU!! First of all for responding and giving me some hope because I have been having a very difficult time finding vendors, and when I do getting them to respond. My fiance and I went to the University of Scranton, and I have had a family farm in Thornhurst, PA all my life, so I wasn’t totally surprised by the lack of resources, but I am in serious need of help. We are having the wedding on my 80 acre 1940’s dairy farm. We have three barns, and a house etc, two big fields and alot of woods. The barns, house, and areas around the house will be undergoing alot work before the wedding which is is why we gave ourselves plenty of time (9/22/2012). Because we dont have alot to work with as of yet in terms of what the place is going to look like when it is completed, I figured the sooner I could find the things that we were sure of the better, so later, we can work out all the other details. I have a band, and we are ipoding it for the rest of the time. Currently I am trying to find caterer that specializes in like bbq backyard comfort food…fried stuff, mac and cheese, etc. I am also trying to find a location for my guests to stay, so far the Stroudsmoor Inn has said no, also currently looking for a tent rental place. I would greatly appreciate any help you have to offer, even any vendors that I haven’t mentioned, would be helpful I am sure. Thanks so much, Tara.
Hi Tara!
I would be glad to help anyway I can. When is your wedding? What are your colors? I ask because I also have a TON of stuff that I will be getting rid of for cheap after my wedding so if you can use any of it I will gladly pass it along 🙂
Ok, so backyard goodies? MMM I have to think on that one, but I can come up with something. How much were you looking to spend and how many people are you feeding? We wanted to get married outside originally, but had to go with a hotel because we have 250 guests and the food was outragous! I am up in Susquehanna county and we have Taylor rental for party rental things like tents and linens, I don’t think they are too expensive but you can check it out?
Do you have a photographer? My photographer is AMAZING! and the best part is she just opened her studio so her prices are soooooo cheap!
Why did the Stroudsmoor Inn say no? who turns down buisness! What town is teh wedding in and what county, I will try and find something for you 🙂
Don’t stress! This will be lots of fun 🙂 I started in January and drove myself crazuy becuase there was nothing up here and the places I found were either not big enough or too expensive. If you read my post about “getting married in Tunkhannock” you will see the horrors i went through hahaha!
talk to you soon!
Jo
Hi Tsseelinger! It’s so nice to see another NePa girl on here!! I wish I could offer you more advice on vendors, however, I’m having a Destination Wedding so the only advice I can give is that Jeff Deitz does the best barn/ farm wedding photographs I have ever seen. His work is truly amazing. Best of luck with the wedding :o]
@tsseeliger: I’m here, too! Have you checked out Boulevard Rental in Scranton? They have just about everything from silverware to tents. I can check out some caterers if you haven’t found one yet, a friend of mine just got married and had a similar type of menu. Let me know what you need and I’ll see what I can do to help.
@jotasevic:Thanks so much Jo for offering your wedding stuff when you are finished with it, as for colors we really do not have any specific colors, the wedding isn’t until 9/22/2012. So we will be end of summer, but probably in the midst of the fall colors up there, and since we are getting married outside/inside a barn/tent in a field with trees in the background, we will probably go with natural theme. We are having at most around 120 people, and having it buffet style so food shouldn’t be too bad once I can find a caterer. Thanks so much for the photographer suggestion, and the rental place, I will def check them out. I will be in touch, thanks again!
@nqz100:Oh that would be great if you knew of caterer that offered bbq/backyard type of food in that area. Thanks so much for the rental place in scranton, i will check it out.
@jotasevic: Hi Jo! Sorry to intrude on this thread but would you mind sharing who your photographer is? I am getting married in September [SO SOON!] and don’t have a photog yet. I don’t want to spend a great deal. THANKS!
@tsseeliger: Sorry it took me so long to get back. The friend that got married actually used the venue’s catering, and they don’t do offsite. Let me know if you need anything else, though!
I have my location picked but im trying to help out a friend of mine, shes looking to have an outdoor ceremony, with space for a Tented or Barn reception, near the Philly/Trenton area max drive time would be a hour.
Try Forget-Me-Not Vintage Rentals for vintage style furniture, props, and details. They have wide wooden barn tables, mismatched wooden chairs, mismatched china, and a ton of vintage details. They’re super easy to work with and will deliver wherever you need them too! They’re fairly new, so they’ll be willing to work with your price point. Your best bet is to get a consultation with them.

As for photographers? TOTALLY awesome photographer that’s up for a good time and will go above and beyond to get some killer shots…Studio D in Berwick, PA (no worries, he travels). No job goes unconsidered and he’s super affordable and AWESOME to work with! We used them for our wedding and I’m still gitty over how awesome they are! I am in love with my wedding photos. He definitely shoots quality images at an affordable price …good enough to published in established blogs like Ruffled, 100 layer cake, and more! Definitely check him out!

Looking for super venues? Fiddle Lake Farms (WISH we had our wedding there!) or Friedman Farms (awesome barn venue!)
White’s in Clark Summit definitely understands how to create a rustic style arrangement.
I know this is an old post but I hope you get my message. I’m looking to have a barn yard wedding and was wondering if you’d let me rent your property for cheapÂ
