So this being my first post through I human have thoroughly read every single thread in here regarding online ring purchases, I could really use some help.
my now fiancé proposed about 2 weeks ago, with a ring he purchased all by himself from an online store in the UK.
though I was very touched and happy that he went ahead and suprised me with this purchase, unfortunately he did not take the time to look into some basic matters, we have a small budget, so he went ahead and purchased a cushion cut 1 carat pave setting but unfortunately did not keep in mind that clarity is more important than size, so an I clarity arrived which obviously had flaws visible even with a naked eye.
apart from that, it had very poor craftsmanship, prongs were not aligned, nor the center stone was centered on to the setting.
nonetheless we both agreed to return it, and are now waiting for our refund.
i have read through all the posts here great things about blue Nile and white flash but we are on a 3500$ budget and can’t seem to find any halo styles I like.
Any help would really be appreciated:)

Have you tried searching for direct diamond importers in your area or one that with in your ability to travle. http://www.thediamondtradecentre.co.uk/
I purchased my ring from a direct diamond importer where I live called Shane Company http://www.shaneco.com I got a halo engagement setting with matching band for $1300 after taxes, however I already had my center stone. I found their prices to be extremely fair and quality of diamonds in the setting is superb as well as craftmanship. If you look into this site search halo and swirl style rings. They also have a custom ring builder.

Omg, just re-read my initial post, so sorry for all the ” off” bits, didnt realize my autocorrect replaced alot of words..lol.
Thank you so much for your reply, The site he had initially ordered from was diamondsfactory.uk.co, though very happy with their customer service, they had a 30 day no questions asked return policy, we were both really disappointed with both the quality and the craftsmanship.
Another thing however i really worry about ordering from the US is the taxes and custom duties that we will have to pay, as i have been informed are calculated to about 40% of the priced item ordered.
So you think i should order a setting and then look for a stone? Unfortunately dont have good jewelers here in Greece.
Do you think i can get something decent on our budget?
Found something i really like but its through an ebay store…

@Chloe_gr: ebay sellers usually have online retail stores like http://www.Pompeii3.com I’ve heard some bad things about the diamond quality not just for center stones but side stones as well.
You could try http://www.bluenile.com, I’ve heard good things about them
Have you looked into Moissanite rather than a diamond, you can typically get a bigger and really clear stone for way cheaper than a diamond. http://www.moissaniteco.com/. Plus I’ve heard they can even have more fire and brilliance than a diamond.
Do you have friends or family that live in the U.S. that you trust to recieve a shipment and then send it to you, that way you get out of at least the duty, you’ll still pay tax though?

I did consider a moissanite, actually found a one that i absolutely love, but price for setting and moissanite stone comes out to 2400$ and find that quite high for a moissanite stone, plus heard that some of them have a yellow tint, and would not be very happy about that.
I have been on blue nile for days, lol and unfortunately cant find a halo split shank setting with a small center diamond in my budget 🙁
The ebay seller i found online was this, would really appreciate if you could tell me your opinion on it!
Although would really perfer to find something through a European or UK site just to be safe with customs.
Taxes for greece are 23% of product value plus an additional 18% for duties, so basically we are talking about an extra 50% to price of the ring:(

Try 365-diamonds, diamondheaven or purely diamonds – they are all good and far better than diamond factory.!

@Chloe_gr: the ring looks really nice, but you realize they are a U.S. seller right?
I would narrow your search to Europe only, excluding all other sellers.
Then on top of that I would email any seller from ebay directly and ask them if they have an online retail store aside from ebay and where their stock comes from. If they won’t answer those questions I wouldn’t do any business with them.

I know, its hard to find Halos in the UK apparently, did a search on the Birtish Ebay and only 2 showed up.
Im currently looking on the 3 sites Blackie suggested:)
Any other Europe/Uk sites recommended would be a big help..
