I walked in to Stay the Night by James Blunt and we left together to Hey Soul Sister by Train
Clearly not traditional – but so much fun and super cheerful πŸ™‚

I had some of my former music students sing for our ceremony music (honestly – these young adults are freaking STARS!), and let them pick the song for the signing. They picked an absolutely gorgeous song, although I’m not sure if the lyrics were inline with wedding music, but it didn’t matter because the music was so gorgeous. It was called Falling Slowly – I have never heard the original, but if it was anything like they performed it should be incredible!

A few runners up were: I Will Follow You into the Dark by Death Cab, Rush by Ferras (seriously one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard), and Je t’aimais Je t’aime et Je t’aimerai by Francis Cabrel (not a french expert, but roughly ‘I have loved you, I do love you, I will always love you’)

Ah you’re most welcome! I have played piano at enough weddings to absolutely LOATHE the traditional stuff! I could play Canon in D in my sleep!

Where abouts in Canada are you getting married πŸ™‚

Aw lovely! It is so beautiful down that way!
I got married in the middle of nowhere in a field/barn, about 45 min outside of my home town (which is a small town on Georgian Bay)

Falling Slowly is great, personally I like the Swell Season version better because I love the woman’s voice with his. It’s a little sad though.

How about Flowers in the Window by Travis? Sooo happy and fun.
