the church has sentimental value to me, because it was the church that got me through some hard times.

The reception venue was 100% sustainable and green. I was in love right away because Interior Design & Architecture wise it was perfect for me! (studied both in college). It sits on a river and I knew in October, it would be gorgeous!

We made a list of things we wanted in a ceremony/reception venue.

Then we visited like 7 different places. When we saw ours, we just knew it was right. The space was gorgeous and fit our huge guest list and the price was right! It took a while to find a place that had everything we wanted, but we managed to do it.

Have you looked at any venues yet?

mine is similar:

our ceremony will be held at the church we met at and are avid attenders of.

and our Reception is a cool off beat kind of place we both fell in love with the first time we walked in the door (before we were engaged!) It is was an old Iron works factory that was recently refurbished into a wood fire restaurant with mostly local vendors. (when we learned it has an event space we were sold!)

We got married at a historic inn. I love vintage, antique, and all things old. My husband and I just knew when we walked up to the place, before we even saw the courtyard that we got married at. Then once we talked to the owner everything seemed pretty perfect, it was a good price, it fit the number of people we wanted, etc.

I spent a lot of time going around to different venues to find the place that had the right feel for us and was in our price range.  I thought I wanted an outdoor ceremony location, but also wanted to make sure that there was a back up plan in place in case Mother Nature didn’t work with us on the wedding day.  It ended up being that the perfect place we found did have a neat outdoor area, but was a historic chapel that was gorgeous inside!  We decided to have the ceremony inside.

I think I went to about 15 or so different spots, but when I saw the chapel, I fell in love and so did my parents, my husband, and my in-laws!

During our search, there were things that I knew were deal breakers.  For instance, I’m allergic to smoke and so is my mom and brother, so wherever we chose HAD to be a non-smoking place.  That ended up ruling out most public spots like beaches and parks because at the time I was looking, smoking was still allowed and we couldn’t prevent people from wandering over to watch while they smoked if they wanted to.  We wanted to make sure there was plenty of parking nearby and a place for me to be able to comfortably get ready.  If it was outdoors it had to have an indoor back up plan.
