You were GORGEOUS! I just went back and looked at your pictures. Everything from your hair to your makeup to your dress was perfect. I really liked the sleeves on your dress! I wanna smack those jerks for saying rude stuff about you.

Hello, fellow Albanian bride 🙂  I’ve been lurking weddingbee for a few months now, but your post is the first I’m replying to because I understand your situation.

First off, I want to re-iterate what the other posters have said:  You looked shume e bukur on your wedding day — timeless, elegant, and classic.   You must have felt beautiful, no?   No amount of disparaging comments will ever change that.  Don’t let their words get to you.

While, I can’t say they’re jealous (maybe they are), I do think they see your wedding look as going against the current Albanian bridal trends (overly ornate and tacky, er, i mean “glam” everything), and find your taste too reserved, simple, and “old-fashioned” for their liking.  Some will even say “that looks like something an American would wear – boring” (I’ve heard that one while dress shopping, unfortunately).

Honestly, your look is a breath of fresh air.  Do I really want to see another Albanian, Kardashian-in-Drag wannabe with the same style Couture Fort Desire/Galit bridal gown and red-soled Louboutins for the umpteenth time?!  Hell no!  Think of how outdated those brides will look years from now.

I also want to say I agree with your comment in the previous page about the Albanian trend of overspending and outdoing each other.  It’s ridiculous how people in our own culture, particularly in the US, feel as if they have to prove they have money and can keep up with each other when it comes to everything (e.g. Cars, homes, clothes, etc).  We need to, as a culture, realize that this does more harm than good.  Why should a young couple have to be thousands of dollars in debt just to prove they can afford to have a lavish wedding?!  It’s not at all realistic, and people need to realize that we should be saving for a house, future childrens’ college tuition, and retirement.

Luckily, I was raised by a father that believes “what you have, you have for yourself”‘ and he, as well as my mom, taught us the value of a hard-earned dollar.

It was a pleasure responding to you :). Ju uroj ty me gjithe dhendrin nji jete sa ma e lumtur.

AlbanianBride27 ….I’m 90% sure that is what it was….I would have to go find the receipt to be sure…. I was, as well, going for timeless…. I think you looked beautiful and whoever said that to you was nuts!! Don’t you even give what those rude people said a second thought…. you were happy and judging from the pics so was your hubby!!! Wink

You looked amazing! People can be so mean. I agree with the people above, it must be jealousy.

You looked absolutely stunning. Anyone who has anything else to say is jealous, petty and just downright mean. Don’t listen to them!

Wow who would EVER say things like that about a bride!? Some people have no class.

You were beautiful, ignore anyone who says otherwise.

You looked beautiful!  If you felt beautiful and had an amazing day, that’s all that matters!  Tell the negative people to shove it!  It wasn’t their wedding anyways…

Plus, if you didn’t use the most trendy and modern looks for your wedding, you will not be the person who looks back at their wedding pictures in 10-20 years embarrassed about the trendy, post dated look.  You will instead be happy that you went with a classic, elegant look!
