I need some insight…
We have decided to have our reception at a restaurant in a hotel. It’s a really nice restaurant with amazing food and we’ve always had our hearts set on a restaurant reception. There will be approx. 25 guests and everyone is staying at the hotel. The wedding is on a Sunday. When we stopped by there on Monday the guy we talked to said that they are usually very slow in November and rarely have November weddings.
The hotel has a beautiful room available for the ceremony, which is $1000 but this is for the ceremony and reception. We don’t want to hold our reception in that room (just not our thing at all) but we want to see if it’s possible to rent the room out just for the ceremony. Since we’re all staying at the hotel, and having our reception in the hotel, do you think there would be any wiggle room in trying to negoiate a deal so that we don’t have to pay the full $1000 for the ceremony room? It’ll be a short ceremony, max. 30 minutes and we are very flexible on what time of day it could be.
I should add too that since it’s a Sunday wedding we’re all staying at the hotel Saturday and Sunday night. We have a small celebration set up in the bar for Saturday night (after a day of skiing) and we will be booking spa treatments for Sunday. Even though it’s a small wedding, we will be spending a lot at the hotel.
What are our chances? Does anyone have any suggestions for how to approach this with the wedding planner at the hotel?
