We finally found an invitation suite that we love. While it is within budget (at the very top of what we’re willing to pay), I’m trying to save money anywhere I can so I was wondering if anyone has negotiated with Etsy sellers? If so, what kind of deals were you able to score?

I was able to save some money on our Lila Frances hangers because we ordered so many (17 of them!!!) and really early on. She gave me a bulk rate 🙂
Otherwise I found Alchemy was a good place to look for deals but Etsy took that away 🙁 Maybe contact the seller and say how much you love their work but your budget is $X and would the be able to work with you to hit that price point.

The only deals I have really ever got is off of a bulk discount.

We’re getting our invitations off etsy, and we’re getting a bulk discount. 10% off if we order 100, 15% for 150, and so on. I’ve found that it sometimes works to just ask… you could use the same line that gets suggested when negotiating with other vendors… “We really love your work, but our budget per invitation is ____. What do you think we could do to match that price point?” They could suggest less expensive printing options, cutting down on the number of inserts or colors of ink, etc. Good luck!

I’m an Etsy seller and I’ve given discounts on multiples of the same item, but not on individual items. You can ask if the seller has bullk discounts and if so, what the minimum order size is to get the discount, but just remember that many Etsy sellers undercharge as it is. 🙂

I sent an email to the seller. We don’t need a large amount of invitation suites (only 40) but they have the minimum quantity listed as 15. I explained that we love the design but that it’s a little out of our budget and I asked if they would be able to work with us. The worse they can say is no and in which case, the listed price is within budget so we technically can still afford it. We’ll see what they come back with. Fingers crossed!

Ive gotten a discount on things before. I got a discount on my garter because I only wanted the toss garter not both that and the keep garter. I got 50% off. I also negotiated with my invitation person because I was combining 2 of her invitations so I had her price me at the cheaper invitation.

I always try to negotiate, I don’t see the harm in asking. I was totally willing to pay our videographer her asking price, but I told her that our budget was less and she agreed to do it for that. Not Wedding Related related, but I went into Best Buy to buy a TV and walked out with the one I wanted for $600 less than the sticker price. It never hurts to ask.
