I’m working on a strict budget of $15,000 for 150 guests and looking to make every cent count. Can anyone share any ideas for negotiating with vendors? I want to get the most “bang for my buck” but I don’t want to insult anyone in the process.
For example, don’t want to work out a deal with the photographer and then she cheapen the quality of product that she provides (especially since she had an advertised special that I’m taking advantage of). But, I did negotiate with the venue to significantly decrease the cost for renting the ceremony site.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Well, your wedding is in an “off” time of year, (Jan-March are usually the slowest for weddings, I hear) so that could work in your favor! (Unless it’s different in Florida, since it’s gorgeous down there in the winters, haha). You could try bringing that up?

Be upfront with any potential vendor with your actual budget for their specific service. Tell your baker that you have $XXX budgeted for a cake. These are things you like, these are things that are less important. What can she do within that range?
My photographer’s original package included engagement pics and 6 hours of wedding photography. I nixed the e-pics (everyone knows what we look like!) and added 2 more hours, without an additional charge.
Don’t whine to them that you can’t afford their most expensive deal. If you are professional and upfront, they will be more willing to help you figure out what you CAN afford.
