- Wedding: October 2016
Hi Bees! My hubby(!!!) and I got married at the Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, Jamaica on October 29th. It’s still crazy to think that was over 5 weeks ago at this point, but figured it was time to put up a recap since I used these boards often when planning my wedding.
We had 50 guests (52 including us) for 3-4 nights of fun in paradise. We had some hiccups at the start (a LOT of unexpected rain) and ended up moving our reception from outdoors on the pool deck to the hotel restaurant (that is open air and has both covered and uncovered sections) the night before. It ended up only raining for about 10 minutes but moving was totally worth it because it was beautiful and so much less stressful given what happened on the first few nights with crazy rain coming out of nowhere. Our wedding day was absolute perfection from start to finish and we are so happy with our choice. We lost a lot of people that were important to us, mostly because of zika and pregnancy (2 Maid/Matron of Honor, 2 groomsen) and then lost a few others due to budget issues but we knew this was what we wanted and that no plan would make everyone happy (we have family and friends literally all over the US and world) so we are happy we stuck to our plan because once we got there, nothing else mattered.
The Rockhouse Hotel in Negril is a boutique hotel on the cliffs with 34 rooms ranging from typical hotel type rooms to villas on the water (fall rates range from $95 a night to $310 for a premium villa so there was something for everyones budget which we loved). We rented the entire resort for our group and it was wonderful to have the place to ourselves (even though the drops meant we paid for the open rooms). The wedding planner and entire staff of the hotel were just beyond words. Everyone was so friendly and fun and you made you feel so welcomed during the whole weekend. We talked to one person at the front desk the day after the wedding who had mostly lost her voice and said she hadn’t had that much fun in a long time (we had a large portion of the staff dancing with us throughout the night!). They did such an amazing job decorating and making sure our weekend went smoothly and I’d highly recommend a wedding here if you are looking at Jamaica!
Some professional photos below and a list of our vendors for anyone that might be interested. We loved everyone!
Vendors:
Photographer: Dwayne Watkins (Team DWP) – As you can see above, he was incredible!
Flowers: Floral Fantasy – They were super responsive and our flowers/tables came out exactly as we wanted. We even rented candy jars for our candy buffet from them.
Welcome Dinner: 3 Dives Jerk Centre – Great food and great night, very hard to work with from afar (no email, website, etc)
Rehearsal Dinner: Push Cart Restaurant @ the Rockhouse – Delicious!
Reception: Rockhouse Restaurant – Amazing!
Hair/Make up: Queen Bee Mobile Salon -Debra and her team were great. Did a trial on Thursday and I loved how both my hair and make up came out. Also very easy to work with over email.
DJ: Sound Illusion – Played all the right songs at all the right times. Had us dancing until 1:30am!
Reggae Band: Do not know the name but could find out if anyone was intersted…they were so so so worth it and had everyone dancing! People are still talking about the band!
Officiant: Used the person Rockhouse always uses, forgot his name, and he was sooo good. We literally met him at the alter and had no idea what he would say but it was perfection.
Transportation: Kenny Tours – Very easy to work with over email, great prices, and located right at the Rockhouse so they did all the airport transfers, transporation to and from 3 Dives, took me to my appointments and we used them to go to the beach on Sunday. Can fit around 20 per van.
Snorkel Tour: Island Charter Co. – Very easy to work with over email, the best prices I was quoted from anyone and we had a great time. They picked us right up at the hotel by boat, took us snorkeling and to jump at Ricks Cafe. We went well past the tour time because we had so many people jumping and they didn’t say anything. Highly recommended!
