(Closed) Neighbor's Dumpster in MY yard, torn trash on my lawn for 4 days PICS

  • poll: What should I do?

Leave them a note asking them to clean it up.

Talk to someone when they come outside.

Leave a note saying their dumpster needs to be moved.

Clean it up and say nothing.

Other (I won't talk to the landlord. He lives 2 hours away, and his wife is dying of cancer.)

I’d speak to them personally. But keep it non-confrontational. though I’m sure your like “geez, how can they not see this mess in my yard!” Maybe the city can give them a warning.

Also, I’d probably be tempted to move it to their yard. πŸ˜‰

Talking to them or leaving a note will do no good.  They see it there and don’t care.  I had the same issue but I live in a townhouse and the trash was in the back.  I called the HOA and they were fined.  The City should be able to do the same since there is human feces.  Oh – and maybe one time I did throw it right under their door….

    @bunnyharriet:

I suggest you speek with your landlord first at all times for any issues. It is not your issue, it is your landlord’s!!! (at least in my jurisdiction)

Your landlord needs to deal with it, not you.

@StuporDuck:  yeah, if it were up to me, I would move them into their own yard or in their driveway, but that’s just me, happyface is just a facade

@bunnyharriet:  You have the patience of a saint! I would definitely talk to them about it or call the city. Like PP have said, it’s not normal to have a dumpster in your yard.

You are way nicer than me. I’d have gone to their door told them to get their trash off my lawn. If that didn’t work, I’d call the cops.

ETA: I live in an apt building and my neighbor used to play music with lots of bass in the morning. Fiance let me at him. He never made another sound that disturbed me. πŸ™‚

I’m with @HappyFace. I would wait until dark then move it in to their driveway with a note stating that their garbage does not belong on your yard and if they do it again you will contact the city and police. I mean that is just GROSS! If it sat for 1 day I can see that, people go to work and don’t notice the mess etc but I would be sure to clean it up when I got home!

Also the overflowing? Nasty, I can smell it throught my computer.

I would talk to your landlord or to the city ordinance people. I’m surprised they can have a dumpster on their front lawn!!! My city would have fined them repeatedly.

@bunnyharriet:  You have some serious patience! I would have thrown a fit the first time my neighbors trash was all over my yard.  πŸ™‚  I would leave a note on their door and physically move the trashcan infront of their driveway and rake all the garbage there too.

First, write a letter and be succinct and to the point. Keep it friendly and just tell them what you want done. Make a copy for yourself. The first time, just put it in their mailbox. IF they don’t comply, send it notarized and by certified mail. Lastly, call your town/city and get them warned. Always try to be nice first, then taken greater action. You never know how long ur gonna be neighbors.
