So I just found out that my nephew’s birthday is the day before my wedding (I have six nieces and nephews and we tend to celebrate birthdays on a joint basis when they’re in town, so I don’t know the actual dates…I’m a terrible aunt, I know). He’s the youngest boy and the middle child, and he often gets overlooked. On top of that, he’ll probably spend his birthday stuck in a car traveling to my wedding. I want to recognize his birthday somehow, but I don’t know what to do! He’ll be 10. I was thinking about singing happy birthday to him at the luncheon (we’re likely not doing a rehearsal dinner, but rather a luncheon the day of) and giving him some kind of treat/gift, but is that good enough?

I like the idea of singing to him. Maybe you could do a special dance with him at the reception? If he’s one of those kids who shine when the spotlight is on, that could be really cute.

I went to a wedding where they sang happy birthday and brought out a cake for the brides grandmother who’s 90th birthday fell on the same day as the wedding. It was soo cute, she was so happy and i’m not gonna lie I teared up. I think its soo wonderful when the bride and groom take a little time out of their celebration to share it with someone else. At the luncheon would be nice. Maybe make some cupcakes with his favorite sport/superhero whatever he loves on top of them. You are going to make his day! 🙂
The other suggestions PP have are great too!

Aw, that is a nice idea! My friends ended up getting married on the birthday of another friend and as a surprise to him, they had all of the guest sing Happy Birthday to him and thanked him for sharing a special day with them. I can’t remember if they had like a special cupcake or something for him, but it was really sweet. I like the idea of singing to him. I bet he will feel appreciated!

My niece’s first birthday is a week after our wedding. I’m having a cute cupcake made just for her by our baker who is also making our wedding cake.

Have a small cake just for him! Our friends honored the groom’s nephew at their rehearsal dinner by giving him one of those giant cupcake cakes. It was really cute.
Also, if you’re having a DJ, you could have him make a quick birthday announcement at the reception.

yes! I was going to suggest this. Instead of (or in addition to) a Groom’s Cake, you could do a Nephew’s cake or get one of those giant cupcake molds!

My nephews 6th birthay will be the day before my wedding. We plan on getting him a special dessert at the rehersal dinner and give him a huge gift. I think that should be enough.

It was my nephews 6th birthday the day before our wedding and we had a beyblade cake made as a surprise for him. It was awesome and all the kids LOVED having a cake with sickly sweet icing.

I would make a big deal out of him. Especially if he tends to get overlooked. How special would it be for the wedding guests to sing him happy birthday with a waiter bringing out a cake to him. It would mean the world to him and everyone else would enjoy it too. Whats better than a happy child!
Also it really wouldnt take anything away from you guys, it would only take 10 minues tops.
Go for it! And lets us know what you decide
