I dunno whats wrong with me lol, Im so nervous about getting my dress altered.
I finally took it in to a alterer today. And it was also much more expensive then I thought :O
Im getting my sash sewn on, adding a little more room for the corset (the part that buttons under it is too small) getting it hemmed and a bustle. also mentioned I wanted a little more volume at the bottum, so she ordered me a mermaid slip.
Its going to cost me around $300.. my fiance is going to have a cow when I tell him, Im feeling pretty bummed right now 🙁 I hope it all atleast looks okay when done.
I hope the mermaid slip doesnt look weird, I told her i didnt want to much volume, I just dont want it straight down like it is now. I also think having the slip will make it less likely for me to trip on my dress. But im nervouse, I could save about $70 if i dont get the slip.
What do you guys think? Should I call them back and tell them to not order my slip and save some money?…
Heres my dress
A picture i fount online, see how its so straight down after being altered?

Yikes! I know how you feel about alterations! Mine were about that much too, but it is a LOT of work to do all the things you described. Its expensive, but it will be worth it. Alternatively, you could always try to shop around for alterations. There are a lot of talented seamstresses out there and I’ve found that often those that work independently (not part of the store) are actually better and cheaper.
Honestly, I think you should get the slip. Your dress is beautiful now, but I do think that a bit of poof at the bottom would really give it a “Wow!” factor!

Basically what MrsLemonDrop said! 🙂 My dress alterations also cost just about as much as yours did – sighs. 😛 But I think you’re going to look fabulous, and it will be worth it! Oh, and definitely the slip. Don’t worry, it’s going to be fantastic! 😀

You can find really cheap slips on both Ebay and Amazon, so search there! It doesn’t need to be anything special, just needs some tulle to give some volume. You should be able to find something for $20-40 easily.
