I have my first dress fitting Sept. 5. I’m getting a little nervous because when I bought the dress I was a size 8 and the dress fit very well, maybe a little snug, but well. I haven’t really lost weight but i’ve been doing cardio and lifting like crazy and I just bought my rehersal dinner dress in a size 6 so go me 2 dress sizes. This does make me nervous because I hope the dress won’t loose it’s shape or need to be altered too much, anyone else have this happen?

Don’t worry, it will be fine. That’s what a fitting is for! If anything, the dress will probably look even better on you now!
Good luck and breathe easy – this is supposed to be fun!

My dress was ordered too big and I needed it to be altered down a couple of sizes too. Hopefully, you are going to a seamstress you really trust. We were really fearful of altering the structure of the dress, but it ended up working out fabulously!

I think one size shouldn’t be a problem to alter the dress without losing it’s shape. If you were taking the dress from a 16 to a 6, I may be concerned, but a few inches should be simple for a quality seamstress. However, since you have lost a considerable amount (GO YOU), be prepared for it to take several fittings to be perfect, as opposed to a simple fitting.
