- Wedding: August 2010
Ok, don’t mind the long post, this is just me obsessing but I could use some help anyway:
So my wedding’s not til August and we are now in the end of April. Therefore, this is anxiety and worry…But as I sit hear near my window on the computer on this rainy windy Sunday morning I’m thinking a lot right now about what would happen if it rained on my wedding day!
We had to switch venues a month ago due to money but I’m real happy about it. It’s a Knights of Columbus, but it’s nice. The problem is for this hall, there’s no room for pics inside except for one other separate party room, but they can only allow that if there’s not already a party going on that day in that room. They have no way of knowing that until the day gets closer.
Our main photo plans have been for outside. We are getting married at a university church on a beautiful campus with loads of grass and trees…couples who get married at this church often take their make photos out there, they always get great shots, and we might take some shots inside the church too (the church is very large and beautiful). However, what if it rains??? I’d realized I should check with the university to see if there’s anywhere inside we can take pics. Since I’m connected with it maybe that would help me get a place inside this huge university. But I haven’t gotten around to asking yet.
There’s always the option of taking photos inside the church before the ceremony…however I do NOT want my FH seeing me in my dress before the ceremony. Anyway I think this church may have a weird policy about not allowing us into the church before a certain time, so we wouldn’t have enough time for pics before the ceremony anyway. Again, something to check into.
There’s no place for me to get dressed in the church. That means I have to wear the dress getting in the limo outside my parents’ house (though that’s only a few feet once you’re off the steps) and in front of the church where there is a relatively long walkway before I”m safely inside.
I’m afraid of my dress being messed up. I’m ALSO afraid for my hair and veil. My hair frizzes so easily in the rain!
I’m also afraid I’m going to be cursing the fact that “it’s rained on my wedding day…” and not have as good a time…
And most of ALL I’m afraid that guests will be late or not even make it since they’re coming from way out of town and there tends to be traffic, and I know rain can make traffic worse. We have to be out of the church by a certain time, especially if we want photos taken in the church afterwards, b/c there’s another wedding a little while after us so we can’t really start the ceremony late to accommodate late guests.
I can’t control whether or not it rains, I know, especially at this point there’s not I can do. Still, I could use some help…:)
From the boards, I’m hearing about big umbrellas and cute rain boots as some solutions.
