Sometimes companies have server problems or website outages, you don’t have to worry. Moissanite Co is not some fly-by-night. It IS annoying that they have no telephone customer service, though, so that if the website is down there’s no way to contact them.

I’m a web developer — trust me, it’s not a bad mark on the company that their site is down. Sometimes typing a period or uploading a file in the wrong place can break the whole site, haha. It looks like it’s up for me so check again and see.

How long ago did you get the first quote?

Moissanite Co has the Amora enhancement now, which is $180/ct. The old “enhancement” was a lot less (like 1/3 of that) but they stopped offering that once the Amora came in and do not do it anymore, so if there was a time lapse between your first quote and now, I can see why circumstances have changed.

You can check with Shubach to see if they can still provide the “old” enhancement.

Moissanite Co is very reputable, have been in business a long time, have a strong online presence and following, and I have dealt with them several times for purchases, without any issue.

The ONLY places I would buy moissanite from are Moissanite Co, Better Than Diamond, or Shubach.

Sites go down sometimes. Even the Bee gives me issues sometimes and does not load, etc. That in itself is not an issue unless it never comes back up agian!

I just posted this on the other thread, but it seems like it may be more helpful here:

I ordered my loose moissanite from betterthandiamond.com, which, I believe, is where moissaniteco gets theirs. I had a great experience with BTD, so you may want to consider going though them if moissaniteco is giving you trouble. The price is the same.

I just thought of this too. I don’t know how quickly moissaniteco ships, but I got my stone from BTD in two business days.

MoissaniteCo is great. They made my ring and were amazing to work with. I absolutely love them! They do stick to their quotes, they’ll make you a special listing for what you want. The site being down has nothing to do with anything, all sites go down sometimes. ALL of them.

@obsessivebee they ship that fast from moissaniteco as well. If you have a custom ring it might take a little longer. But even with my custom order, the ring came 8 days after we ordered it.

@obsessivebee:

Moissanite Co gets their moissanite from Charles & Colvard. All moissanite comes from C & C (this is why the Amora Gem is not available yet as though BTD has found out how to make Amora Gem, C & C has a patent that covers the Amora Gem as it is written and are the ONLY ones allowed to distribute moissanite (and they can distribute it to retailers)). It is a somewhat complicated system, but there is all sorts of manufacturing and distribution levels going on there!

However, from what I undertand, Moissanite Co does send moissanite to BTD to give it the Amora enhancement (and BTD has their own lab or something that does that…something like that!), so if Mo Co does not have an Amora-d stone in stock, they need to send it out to get Amora-d.

My specifics may be off, but I am very certain that C & C is the only one who can officially distribute moissanite right now. Anyone selling moissanite right now has stones that originated with C & C (or their lab or whatever). C & C itself gets its silicon carbide from Cree, Inc.

 And yes, Mo Co also ships VERY fast. Faster if it is something available and it is in the US. They can also upgrade you to overnight shipping and so on. I am in Canada, but there have been times I was shipping from Mo Co to someone in the US and it got there within 1-2 days. If you need something built, you can tack on a few extra days.

I have ordered from both BTD and Mo Co and both have been great, any problems were more due to the pain that Fed Ex or UPS can be when shipping into Canada.

I wouldn’t really stress about that.  They’ve been around for awhile and a lot of people have had good luck with them.  They are probably working on the website.  If you have emails from them with quotes, you can always reply to one to contact them.

@RayKay:

Ok thanks. I always thought BTD just bought a bunch from C&C, Amora-ed them, then moissaniteco bought them after market, but I see what you are saying.

@Lola518:  There might just be a miscommunication between the CSR on chat, and Chris. Obviously the chat CSR didn’t have your whole email history there to look at so he/she may have missed something or not been sure of what price Chris had worked out with you. I’d trust what Chris told you, unless he accidentally overlooked the bit where you said you wanted it enhanced.

The MoCo folks are good people and they’re very helpful, just a little bit…blunt? They sorta just say stuff and don’t try to add any “tone” or niceties to it, if that makes sense. So some people think they’re mean or rude, but really they just don’t have much “bedside manner”.
