I don’t think it will matter, especially as a lot of the elements you are talking about (colors, etc) aren’t exactly so unique that anybody will have a second thought about it. Most people don’t pay that much attention to detail anyhow!

Example – my FI’s brother is getting married two months before us. Both of us are using blush as a color. I’m not even remotely worried about it. Nobody pays that much attention except brides, brides to be, and people that are just REALLY into weddings. I couldn’t even tel you what the color palate was for the last wedding I went to, or how the bride had her hair.

I usually remember the bride wore white and the cake was good.  That’s it.

I agree with @qtrfan. When you are in-process of planning a wedding you will naturally be more perceptive of every last detail of your wedding and other weddings.

90% of guests won’t notice things beyond “it was really pretty” “there were flowers” “She wore a white gown”

Do what will make you look back on your wedding and remember how perfectly it fit you and your husband.

With all these weddings lately having mason jars and “rustic” elements EVERYWHERE…..everyone lately seems to have the same wedding lol.  (not that that’s a bad thing, it’s just trendy right now).  What I’m trying to say is, I don’t think she’ll care, but if you think she’ll care maybe jokingly mention it to her and gauge her reaction?
And I wouldn’t decide what I want for MY wedding based around what a friend did at hers.  I would regret not doing what I wanted.

@peonyinlove:  I was the first to get married a year and a Half ago I got married in Vera wang esther and it was a winterwonderland theme…

I have been to 5 weddings since and all have been winter similar dresses all with little sleeves like mine and….wait for it….3 out of the 5 girls have worn my Wedding Tiara.

So I absolutly dont mind. My cousin who is going to get married in October flew to Montreal to Say hi…..they live in Mexico….basicly she wanted to ask me if I would let her use my dress at her wedding because it was so beautiful….
I said yes.

I personally would feel flattered

It is your day and you will surely look lovely in that Hillary Duff day. every wedding is the same we celebrate we eat we dance we say goodbye. Dont worry so much about and just enjoy your day.

it is your wedding, put what you like into it, in the end you will have to remember it for the rest of your life. I think all weedings look kinda similar anyway, although I see how you want yours to be “special” or “unique”

@peonyinlove:  I don’t think it matters at all. I think that guests generally don’t notice the little details and a lot of people seem to have a similar type of wedding feel anyway these days. So no, I don’t think anyone will notice or care and I don’t think you should either. Just do what you want. πŸ™‚

@peonyinlove:  If there were 6 months between the weddings, I would maybe say that people will remember but since there are two years, I HIGHLY doubt that people will remember!

Think of the last wedding you went to – what song did they dance to? I have no recollection of any first dance songs of any wedding I’ve ever attended!

I really don’t think it’s a big deal and really don’t think anyone will remember! Do what you want – it’s your day πŸ™‚

@peonyinlove:  It sounds like they’ll be plenty different – I think you’re overthinking it!
