Alright , I need your reassurance bees. You may have remembered that I posted a month ago how I was nervous that there were no locations available for my wedding date that I have envisioned within the Chicago city. I found a location that just outside of the city in the suburbs of my own town which is beautiful. Lemme attach some photos of what it looked like when I visited and they had a convention going on (I know the photos are dark) . Let me also attach 2 photos I have found that really swayed me from a previous wedding held at the location (speak up bees if the last 2 photos are yours – you had a BEAUTIFUL wedding)
They hold the space within their heated and air conditioned marquis tent attached to the hotel space. What really sold me is that it’s within my home town, it’s a beautiful golf resort, it’s much easier for my guests to be in the suburbs without the high hotel room block prices, parking is free (instead of downtown which is $75.00 a night), the wedding package is OUTSTANDING, and it comes with hands on event coordinator to pretty much do most of the heavy lifting with planning and etc.
We have the papers sign and I’m ready to hit send on the email but I just need some reassurance. Is it normal to have jitters when picking and committing to a venue?I’m nervous and excited all at the same time!! What a weird feeling….

cushionlove: The venue is GORGEOUS! Just make sure you’re comfortable with all the terms in the contract and that they spelled out the costs. Otherwise that tent is to DIE for! It’s totally normal to have jitters – you are signing a lot of money. But I would go for it if it seems like the ducks are lining up!

Well, the venue is the biggest decision that you make. It influences the entire feel and budget of the wedding. It sounds like you have really done your research and considering this over a period of weeks/months. That sounds about right to me, at some point you do just need to make a decision and move forward. All your rationale is sound and the venue is very nice. Go for it.

It’s so pretty! The venue and grounds look wonderful. I know my mom would be jealous of your guests if she saw these pictures as she loves golf, haha.
I totally get you, though. I was freaking out when I sent in our venue contract, which included our first deposit… of $8,000! Eek! My Fiance and I knew we wanted the venue no matter what (and sort of planned our date around it) but putting that much down was like signing over our souls. Even if, God forbid, we end up hating the place for some reason, there’s really no going back after committing that much.
I say, if you love it, go for it… Just so long as you’ve absolutely read everything in the contract and there’s nothing you’re unhappy with.

melonseeds: defintiely a lot of money to think about, eeekk. Especially since it’s non-refundable.
jamb: Venue is defintely the biggest decision! I dont think I realized how hard it would be trying to plan much without that being being sorted first!
liameowchelle: Exactly! Depsoit is around the same for this location. Thank you, I defintely have read and re-read the contract more times than I can count. haha
UPDATE: … well, I finally hit the send button, so I guess it’s official. I waited on that contract for almost a week haha. Thanks to the previous posters for helping me sort out my nerves!
