Eeeeekk! I’m 9 weeks, 2 days pregnant as of today. My Darling Husband and I decided to tell my rents tonight the BIG news… (first grandchild) It’s my dad’s 70th Birthday today, so I thought this would be a fantastic present. I stole a poem off the internet (See below) put it on cute paper and will give it to him to read after he reads his birthday card.
Anyways. I’m sooo nervous!!!! I know they will be overjoyed, but I’m gosh darn scared! (Mind you I’m 28years old)
Am I crazy for being so excited/nervous to tell my own parents the big news?
I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss.
I don’t yet have a name.
You can’t yet hold my tiny hands
Nor whisper in my ear.
It’s still too soon to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.
But all that will change come April 24th;
That’s when they say I am due.
I am your new grandson or granddaughter
And I can’t wait until I meet you!
All I ask between now and then
Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I’ll be worth the wait;
Because of all the love we’ll know.
So what I have to give you now,
Is a wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part
Of this wonderful family!
Love Baby (My last name)

No– you’re not crazy. This is big news!!! It’s only natural to be a little nervous, but they will be over joyed!

Totally understandable, first of it’s a BIG deal! Second, women spend a large part of their young lives avoiding pregnancy, now it’s a 180 in the other direction…adjustment nerves are natural, it’s going to be great!

I can only imagine that’s a completely natural feeling (assuming, since I’m not in the same situation). I just had to say… That poem is so cute! They’re going to be delighted!

I was so excited to tell my parents and then got really nervous just before telling them that I almost chickened out! It’s a big thing to tell, but it’s a great feeling.

I’m kinda doing the “Happy Birthday, Guess What? You’re going to be Grandpa” sort of thing…
And he’s the big 70!!!! He had me at 42!

I’m very nervous to tell my parents, even more so to tell my older bro and his wife. They are in year two of a long process to adopt and my sis-in-law said “please don’t beat us” to me at my wedding. I’m hoping they’re not mad/disappointed. Fortunately I’m telling them all at once when we’re together for Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks.
I really like the poem! I’m trying to take a fun/silly approach to our announcement.

Do you have an ultrasound picture? We had out 1st ultrasound at 6 weeks so I put it in a “Grandpa” frame for my father. I just think it would go really cute with the poem and something for him to open. Either way congratulations and I’m sure they will be so excited.
