SO and I started watching it and just finished episode 5. I got the idea from here. To add to what everyone has mentioned, my favorite is the three way wedding!

@ Kslim13   I’m late to the party, but we just finished it last night. everyone involved was fucking crazy and predatory in one way or another.

I was DISGUSTED by Joe’s abuse of Travis and his other husband by isolating them from everyone they knew at only 19 years of age, getting them hooked on drugs, and making sure they had nowhere else to go. I was DISGUSTED by Doc doing the exact same thing. I was DISGUSTED by Jeff saying his wife needed to get back into the gym as soon as the baby popped out, while simultaneously trying to pick a hot nanny.

Carole is a hypocritical dirt bag, and I 120% believe she murdered her husband. She tried WAAAAY too hard to seem non-chalant about the whole situation. I fear that Howard will probably end up dead too…did you see the way her eyes were trained on him whenever he was talking?? He’s a fool if he doesn’t fear for his life. Also, Carole absolutely exploited animals AND people in a similar manner to Doc and Joe. I cannot believe she conned people into working for her for FREE under the guise of an internship!

My final commentary is this–how the HELL did all these simpletons end up in a situation so multi-faceted and complex?

@ socalgirl1689   I think it’ll stop being your favorite in the next couple of episodes when you’re clued into the circumstances under which the two guys agreed to marry Joe’s crazy ass…

We have binge watched this over the last two days and basically just kept turning to each other and saying ‘what the actual fuck?!’ on repeat.

Okay, so we finished it last night. I have to agree that yes, it’s entertaining. A documentary about people out there living in the big cat world (I knew from tv that some people kept a couple in their homes but not like hundreds and that people had private zoos), bizarre living conditions/situations in general and how everyone being interviewed basically turned against each other plus a murder for hire plot.

However, I was a bit disappointed because given the hype, I just expected more. Kinda similar how I felt with the Steve Avery documentary. I can’t believe it’s only Joe Exotic who got in trouble. How about the others? Do you think they will get in trouble too and the system is just building their case against them?

I think Don and Carole made an agreement that he would leave and go off with his side piece in Costa Rica.  I think he took his buried up $$ and gold bars.  I honestly think they were both in on it.  I think Carole has black and white thinking, and was all in for Don and when it was over she just shut off all of her feelings.

The whole thing is so sad, especially for the big cats and other animals.

@ SisterJude   hmmm…that’s an interesting perspective. I’ve not yet heard anyone believe that he actually up and left! but why would he have done that when he seemingly had an iron-clad prenup (or something) that would allow him to leave her with nothing? I just don’t understand…it really seems like Don had nothing to lose had he decided to just dump Carole…why would he have made himself disappear?

lol…. We only got Netflix a few months ago and I’ve been catching up on shows I’ve missed over the last decade like Mad men and I’m currently watching Orange is the new black. Orange is the New Black have the meth head hillbillies and I thought they were exaggerating but having watched ‘tiger king’ and seeing the prevelance of meth teeth, shit quality tattoos, lots of people drinking mountain dew and far too many guns being shot without a care, I’m starting to think that ‘Orange is the new black’ weren’t playing up the stereo type ‘hillbilly’ thing and it might somewhat be a little bit truthful. Seriously, Joe exotics ex husband did several interviews minus a shirt!! Who goes ‘I’m going to be interviewed today for a documentary and I think a shirt is optional’!! 🤔

It’s a real eye-opener especially from the perspective of being a non American. It makes me sad that these people are openly corrupt and the law makers haven’t done their job in implementing laws to make this illegal and bring down these evil people. Those poor animals. People need to be aware of animal tourism and make choices in not buying into the exploitation like this. Those parks only exist and are profitable because people visit them.

I hope karma deals all these evil people what they deserve. Let them be in a cage for the rest of their life so they begin to understand what it feels like for these animals.

I’m so obsessed with this show. I watched it last week and literally every few minutes I had a “what the f*ck” moment!!

Carole definitely killed her husband. Even if SHE didn’t do it, she had it done. Altering the will and all the other crazy shit. The whole story is just insane. Her brother being on the police force made for a half assed investigation. Also, the street Don so called picked her up on was a well known highway for hookers to be walking. Think about that.

I’ve listened to a few podcasts since watching this, and interviews with some of the cast. I think when Joe first started out (wayyyyy back in the day) his heart was in the right place but over time his obsessive and paranoid personality took over. I also think Joe was 100% set up by Jeff in the hit for Carole, and was the mastermind for it. I don’t doubt Joe is a total shit person but I think it’s insane he took the fall while literally every other person involved was JUST as bad.

@ happiekrappie   lol yeah, I haven’t either.  Most everyone I know is free Joe, Carole killed her husband.

I think that because of past behaviors, Don did already leave a wife and family for a side piece.  And the ex-wife, though she seemed really hurt, didn’t say the things you might hear from someone who is angry.  It sounds like he was talking about his side piece right in front of his wife at the time. I think these women find themselves in love with a man who is serial cheating and they’re devastated.  It sounds like he leaves everything behind pretty easily.

But, this is not a hill I would die on.  Just sharing my own little conspiracy theory 🙂

@ SisterJude   lol! I love that there are other little conspiracy theories out there about this…honestly, we’re all just making stuff up at this point anyway so there aren’t any hills-to-die-on for any of us 🙂

I don’t think joe should be freed, though. he’s an awful human being and a predator just like the rest of them. I’m glad he’s in jail (not necessarily due to the things he’s charged with, but from a moral standpoint about what he did to Travis and everyone else). I think Carole, Doc, and Jeff need to be improsoned as well. They’re all predators in one way or another–and I’m only talking about their crimes against other people, not even the animals.

I am an animal lover myself, but I must say that in this series, animal rights took a major backseat to my outrage about how major human rights were violated as a result of these people’s greed.
