Another bride posted here yesterday about “the rule” NEVER buy your so any ring boxed sized gift if it doesnt have an engagment ring in it!! I thought it was a great rule. One of my ex-bfs around the time i had wanted to get engaged did that to me…he even said “its not what you think” and i was STILL disappointed.
I saw this video today and thought it was awsome…a good laugh…and lesson 🙂

Hahaha, I was expecting a proposal around Christmas time, and Fiance pulled out a small jewelry box He immediately said “Don’t get too excited, it isn’t a ring.” Ouch.
When he did proposal in April, he pulled the box out of his pocket and all I could think was …”if this is another damn necklace….”

So funny! This year for our anniversary he pulle the “little box” thing on me twice. The first one I oppened had a charm of the Eiffle tower, the second one was earings. I was very very very disapointed.
Also, I can’t believe that guy told his wife that her mom looked hott. What an idiot!

My sisters Boyfriend or Best Friend (now DH) one Christmas when they ahd been dating for 3 years made a HUGE deal for months about how special her Xmas gift was going to be. On Xmas day, he took her into a private room at his parents house, played his favorite romantic music (Frank Sinatra) sang along to the song and presented a ring sized box. Of course she was ecstatic and opened it to find.. diamond earrings.
He got an earful after that!!

Several years ago, my BF’s anniversary gift to me was a gift pack from Bath & Body Works… Even though he knew I was deathly allergic to everything in that store and would have an asthma attack every time we walked past it in the mall. Real good job, Mr. Moon. Really.

@moderndaisy: Oh my! He should be afraid of castration after that!
My Future Mother-In-Law received a dishwasher for xmas. And yes she did have a working one, old, but working. And no, it was not something he had to save up for and was a special treat.
My rule: Never by my an appliance unless I specifically ask for it or you know I will love it. Appliances should be household purchases and not gifts.
Although I did ask for a vacuum from my parents, but 1) its my parents and 2) I asked for it.
