I got a new setting for my engagement ring yesterday! When My fiancé bought my ring he put all of his focus on picking out the diamond and just got a plain solitaire setting. He didn’t know what kind of setting I would like and didn’t want me to know he was going to propose so he just picked a plain setting so that we could go pick out a new one later. I had the setting he proposed with for 6 months and went back and forth on if I wanted to change it. I had been looking around at settings online and decided I would like to at least look at a few in person.
We went to a local jeweler yesterday and looked at a bunch. There were a couple I really liked but when I tried them on with my wedding band I didn’t like how they looked together. Plus I didn’t like them enough to be sure I would want my fiancé spending that amount of money on it. When we had first arrived the shop owner asked how I felt about halos. I’ve never really been a big fan. I’ve seen a lot that I just don’t care for and some that look really nice but never seen a ring with a halo that I was in love with. My fiancé keep saying I should try a halo but the owner hadn’t been showing us any based on what I said.
I was trying on a bunch of different settings with my wedding band at this point and none of them were really doing anything for me. Then he pulled out a ring with a pave set twisted shank and… a halo. I put it on and that was it. It went perfectly with my wedding band and I was in love. It was like when I put on my dress for the first time. I started to choke up and I just knew it was the one. I felt like he had proposed all over again.
I was a bit worried because the halo was square and had an asscher cut diamond in it which looked fantastic. My diamond is a round brilliant so I didn’t know how it would look. The owner had the asscher taken out and put it one of his loose round diamonds so I could make sure I still loved it. I did.
Now this jeweler is amazing, I just have to say. First of all he is very apprecaitive of word-of-mouth bussiness so if you come if and say so-and-so told you about the lovely whatever they got from him, he will give you a nice discount. Which was great because two of my fiancé’s friends had recently gotten rings from this guy. The owner even remembered their names and what they bought. Anyway they took my ring and set my diamond in the new setting while we waited. And when I came back a few minutes later because I realized the band was a little too loose they resized it while we went to lunch. I read all these stories about girls would don’t have their ring for weeks because it’s being set or resized or whatever and I didn’t want to not have my ring! I was sad to not have it at lunch lol. I was very greatful they did everything right then and there.
So here it is, my new setting:
