This may sound silly to some but. My and hubs one year anniversary is coming up and since we had a planned elopement/private ceremony we decided to forevo the cake. We still did a lot of the other bridal/wedding things (dress, pics, rings etc). I’m thinking of baking a simple 1 Tier “wedding cake” with hubs, buying a topper so we can eat our wedding cake together on our anniversary. Thoughts. Tips on beautiful DIY one tier cakes?

I made a cake for our one year anniversary. I wouldn’t call it a wedding cake but it was fun to eat cake and drink champagne!

I LOVE cake and think it’s a great idea! We saved our top tier to eat on our 1 year anniversary and I am stupidly excited for it haha.
Personally, I love flowers on a cake. We did that instead of a topper. Maybe you can choose some flowers that remind you of the day to place on the cake? Just an idea!

Bulk Barn has all kinds of reasonably priced ideas for this- everything from cake pans to toppers, flower making kits, tons of decorations and supplies.

Sure, why not? You can probably cut the cost down by not saying it’s a wedding cake (which IMO is no loss on the baker’s part because the effort and customization is nothing like a real wedding cake) and decorating yourself. Your example is beautiful!
