Hi all you wonderful bees. I have been lurking around for a few weeks and thanks for all your wonderful information and stories. My only daughter has announced her wedding for March 2013 and we have already started planning. So, the first thing….. the dress:)
After looking at heaps of dresses all outside our budget, we have decided to take a punt on an on-line dress from China. So thanks for all the reviews of all the different vendors, it has been very helpful.
I will post our story over the months so hopefully it will help future bees with their research.
Step 1: Dressily and Jasmine Bridal Still deciding between the two. I have had great customer service from both companies and I must admit I like the option of upgrading the dress (fabric & making) as offered by Jasmine Bridal. But the price from Dressily is fantastic.
Step 2: On Saturday we went to a professional dressmaker and got proper measurements for both of us and the 3 children who will accompany the bride – no bridesmaids.
Step 3: Just ordered a cocktail dress for myself from Jasmine Bridal to check them out. Ordered Premium fabric and making, and the same colour and beading as shown on the photo on their website. This way the end product should be a good example of their standard work. We have time as the wedding is not until next March.
I will keep all of you updated with the outcome.

@Aussiemum: I like the idea of “trying them out” with your dress before you get your daughter’s dress. Hopefully it arrives as expected. I’ve read many good things about both companies, and some not so good, but I haven’t paid much attention to which of the china companies are which. I just wanted to suggest that your daughter consider purchasing a used dress. There are a lot of them out there. I purchased one online for less than half of what the brie originally paid, and about a quarter of what it seems to retail for now. Its just another option for brides on a budget :). Happy planning!
