So I have been dating my Boyfriend or Best Friend for about 7 years. In 2009, the breaking up started. Every few months we would split and get back together after about 2 or 3 months apart. I wanted a future, (I was 26 at that time), but he seemed really comfortable still living at home and working as a sub teacher. So I left, but he fought for me tooth and nail every time, and wound up coming back.
Finally, in Jan of 2010, I cut the cord: I split from him, moved into an apartment with a roommate, and started seeing someone else. He went NUTS and for close to 7 months tried to get me back. The relationship with the new guy was fun, but I wasn’t in love. After about a year, I realized I was still very much in love with my ex, and broke things off with him. Now, I am back with my ex and we are very happy. We communicate better than we ever did, and we have learned to comprimise with things.
In the time we were apart, he tried to get a full-time teaching position, but here in NY, there are layoffs and hiring freezes everywhere. He still lives at home, but has saved up around 20K. Having moved out, I saved nothing, but managed to pay off almost all my debt. Now I am moving back home to save for us.
Is this a good thing to do? Will I be forever waiting for him? Is it wrong that he wants to stay home to save?
