I was advised to join the gym and keep busy.  The best advice!  My SO asked my Dad in July (Dad let it slip) so I know exactly how you feel.  Spending time on here means I can let out my frustration in a positive way πŸ™‚

Ugg I feel you. My SO has had the ring for almost 4 months.  It’s torture, but you’ll get through it.  I’m passing the time by enjoying time with friends, focusing on some things I want to accomplish.  Don’t get me wrong I still want it as badly as ever, but there isn’t much I can do but go along for the ride.

It sounds like you are soooo close– which is super exciting! I don’t even have a ring picked out yet, and I’m already antsy, lol. As a fellow control freak, I echo the advice above to keep busy. I’ve been creating little projects for myself: cooking, reading books, blogging. Also, maybe plan a special date for your SO– tickets to a concert or a nice dinner. Something to show him how much you appreciate him, and something that you’ll be excited about doing as well. It helps you then funnel some excitement into the date (a set thing) rather than having it all concentrated on the unknown engagement. You can do it!

Cosigning keeping busy – thank goodness for my dissertation research to keep me busy this summer and for the WB boards because now I have a way to indulge my guilty pleasures without bombarding my poor SO with images of rings and dresses lol

Totally a control freak too πŸ™‚ I’m kind of in a similar place since I found the ring two months ago so I know he has it and still…nothing… driving me crazy!

Welcome to the bee πŸ™‚

@Ambergris: I’m a control freak too… totally picked out my engagement ring myself. I mean, my bf likes it, but I’m the one wearing it forever, and I’m totally picky about everything!! I hope you get your ring, soon!!! I’m crazy I planned all of these things for us to do in the fall (apple picking, pumpkin picking, two shows, etc) so maybe he would try proposing at one of those things.. hahahahaha. He didn’t yet, but hopefully soon!!! Best of luck~

100% with you! Trying to get myself to stop thinking about when he’ll propose now that he has the ring, but it’s the fact that I have no control over any of it that’s really getting to me! If it was up to me I would have done it eons ago! lol I took up going to the gym every night, working some overtime at work, and going to do some job searching in the new year! Just follow Mr. Bee’s 3 step program, it’s been helping me a ton! Hope he pops the question soon!

I’m so relieved that I’m not the only one stuck in this waiting limbo!!  It is driving me CRAZY waiting for my SO to propose.

He is very coy about the subject and I know he wants it to be a surprise.  But I get so impatient and frustrated at times.  Especially when friends and colleagues think it’s okay to ask “So did you get engaged yet?”, “I hear Mary got engaged…. she’s younger than you, isn’t she?”, and “Any plans?  Well… you have talked about it, haven’t you?”.

I don’t know if he has the ring yet.  We had a chat about 5 months ago and he told me he was planning a surprise but didn’t want to say too much.  When we had our anniversary, I thought that would be it.  Then I thought he would propose for my birthday.  Then I thought it would be Christmas… now I’m counting down the days to our trip away in Feb, just hoping that will be it.  I know the wait will be worth it in the end but I am a bit of a control freak – I’ve already (more or less) chosen the date, venue and colour scheme …

We have been together for over 4 years and living together for 2 years (which included 1 year travelling abroad).  We both know we’re going to get married and have kids together … but all this waiting is TORTURE!  I have started a part-time course and plan to run a half marathon in the new year to keep me busy and to stop me from going completely insane!

Best of Luck!
