If your doing a Sunday wedding you can really save money be doing a brunch, the caterers don’t charge as much. Also if your thinking of having alcohol you can keep costs down by serving mimosa’s and bloody mary’s . You can premixed them and serve them in individual containers. So no bartender. Check groupon for coupons in your area, they now have wedding related coupons. The most memorable wedding I have been to was a Sunday brunch. They had a string quartet instead of a DJ, that cost a couple of hundred less. You can order flowers from Costco now and some grocery stores have florist on site that cost half the price. They make wedding cakes too. If you get a plain one you can always add your own flowers to save money as bakers charge a lot for the decorating. Also sometimes you can negotiate a free cake or cupcakes with the caterer. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head except if you google groupon national deals you can get 70 dollars worth of printing for 17 dollars from vista print for invitations and such. You can buy more than one which saves a ton. I would go ahead and get them soon because they usually pull the deal after they have sold a certain amount. Hope that helps! Happy planning!

Hi There!!

I live in the Aston area- not sure if you are open to a hall but if you are looking to cut costs there is Lia’s Catering in Boothwyn.  She is exclusive at a few venues (they are on her website) I looked at the Ballroom at Boothwyn and the Phoenix Balroom for a birthday party but they were both booked for the date but they seemed pretty nice.  I think the Boothwn Ballroom was a little bigger- I can’t rememeber.  You are looking at about $49.95 pp to start if you book by Dec 2012.

there’s also Lazeretto Ballroom in Essington.  I know someone who was married there and she said their package was around $79 pp but that was 2 years ago.

Or if you have a bit more to spend there’s the Mendenhall Inn- I believe they start at $99 pp depending on the day.  they are nicer and I have had their food and it’s pretty good.

this is probably your best option if looking to keep everything under $10k.  I looked high and low for the best pricing- I ended up pushing my wedding back to spend more money.

Also, you can check some of the hotels around the airport, I believe they start out around $99 pp.

Hope this helps!!Smile

I’m making all my centerpieces from jars that we already have [spaghetti sauce, pickles, jelly, etc] and putting candles in them.

You can skip favors.

Make your own bouquets, or, even cheaper, use silk flowers.

Use shoes you already have, and do your own makeup. Maybe get a friend to do your hair.

We’re looking for a venue that will allow us to bring our own alcohol, since that will save a lot.

If photography isn’t a #1 priority, you can do something like this: http://www.weddingbug.com/Wedding-Professionals.aspx

We’re going to contact our local cullinary school and see if we can get them to do our catering or cake for a lower price. You could do the same for a photographer if you want to gamble.

I think it’s usually cheaper if you have the ceremony/reception at the same venue.

Try to find a place that will let you choose your caterer.

A DJ is cheaper than a band, but an iPod is even cheaper than that [make sure you have 2 just in case one craps out or something like that].

I’m having a friend’s Mother-In-Law do the alterations on my dress, and I’m making my own veil.

I can’t think of anything else right now, but I feel like I’m the queen of budgeting. We’re having 100 guests max [hopefully more like 75] and our budget is 10k. It CAN be done. You just have to work for it! PM me if you need anything!
