Before the pics… the back-story:
We got engaged in January. It was a perfect engagement — My Fiance surprised me with a trip to NYC and proposed on top of the Rockefeller building at night. And I loved my ring — it was everything I imagined it would be. (I posted it here.) Fast forward a few months, we were pretty slow about getting it appraised and insured, our fault. But imagine our surprise when the appraisal said the center stone was an L when the jewelry store said it was an I. And before you ask, the center stone wasn’t a GIA diamond — lesson learned.
Anyway, there were a lot of tears and back and forth with the jewelry store, the designer, etc. We eventually got a refund from the designer. The jewelry store decided to get the stone graded at GIA and it came back as an I. So it seems the appraisal was the source of all of the unnecessary drama. She had all of her up-to-date licenses and was a GIA Graduate Gemologist. My advice to those of you that are buying diamonds, make sure you get the GIA report and avoid any potential stress.
After we had the refund, Fiance and I went ring shopping together. We ended up at a local jewelry store and were able to get a lot more ring for roughly the same money. I couldn’t be happier!
And now the ring — the photos will probably be big and I don’t care 🙂
It’s a 1.04 Brillant Cushion, H color, SI2 clarity. I’m a size 4.5 and the tcw is 1.423. I love it. Thanks for letting me share, Bees!
