I posted earlier today looking for suggestions on where to look for off the rack dresses in Raleigh. As always the bees came through for me.
I went to two places: ‘New York Bride & Groom of Raleigh’ and ‘A Bridal World’
a bridal world had a really nice older woman working, but their dresses were older styles and not really my thing. And they don’t allow pictures. So….didn’t have any strong contenders there.
Found two that I’m *really* into at NY.
Dress one: giant fluffball. $900. No alterations needed.
Dress two: sleek fluffball. $840. Need the top taken in one size ($125-300) and a bustle ($15-85). Spoke to a seamstress who can get it done in time but she was giving ballpark high-end/low-end quotes since it was over the phone and she didn’t have details on the dress. Apparently my boobs are a 12 while my booty is a 14.
(This is a still from the video. I don’t permanently have that weirdly smug face)
See? Sometimes I’m making a whole different stupid face. But most importantly…I can sit in the dress. Sometimes a challenge with tight on the hip gowns.
Soooooo what do you ladies think? Which should I choose and whyyyyyyy?

Giant fluff ball!! Where else will you be able to wear a princess dress?

Giant fluff ball. It’s SO flattering and you look SO happy in it.

I happen to like the giant fluff ball dress better but even if I didn’t I would still go with it. If you have a time crunch I think No alterations sounds like a dream and must decrease the stress of if the seamstress will really get it done in time (even if she says she can). I also think it looks so much more flattering on you as well so that’s a plus. Post which one you choose.

Giant fluff ball by a mile! Gorgeous! And no need to modify? Sounds like it’s meant to be!

Definitely the A Line (giant fluffball). It looks amazing on you and no alterations sounds perfect!

Giant fluffball!! Omg the color and fit are perfect for you:-)

I let out an involuntary “ooooo” when I saw the sleek fluffball. Your figure is killer in it. Giant fluffball is stunning as well, so it’s not like it’s a bad choice if that’s how you’re leaning.

I loveeee the second one! It’s so unique and eye-catching and beautiful! It looks great on you! I think it defines your waist more than the first one.

tinneranne2 : So, I think they’re both pretty awesome. I was all for the giant fluffball till I saw the sleek.
The 2nd dress does much nicer things for your figure IMO. You have a great shape and I think the first one kinda swallows you. I love the handkerchief hem, but since they both have that, I’d say dress #2 is much more unique and suprising.
I think it’s worth having the alterations done for a showstopper.
