Wear your dress. You picked it for a reason!

Wear your grandmother's dress. This is too good of an opportunity to pass up!

I didn’t even have to look at your photos. Just reading the way you write about your grandmother’s dress, I’d vote for that one 100 times over.

The dress you bought is beautiful, and the color is gorgeous on you. But I am extremely sentimental, and to have something so special to wear just because of its history, added to the fact that you happen to love it and always admired it, is a dream come true for any bride-to-be.

I would still wear the reception dress you got to deal with the issues of sweating at the reception or somebody tripping on it. It may not be sentimental to your grandma, but I bet it will be to you!

@Keiramenna:  yay!!!! You are right, that totally seems like a sign to go with your grandma’s dress and I love the idea of altering it and making it “yours”. I don’t see the need to keep it preserved the exact way it was because this is YOUR dress now and it should be the way you want it.

Sooo excited for you! Make sure to post pics of the new altered dress!

I like your grandma’s dress. Her sister took the collar off and it really looks beautiful. And if you were able to open up the neckline (maybe a u-shaped neckline with cap sleeves) it would still look beautiful and show how its evolved over 63 years. Not sure about a sweetheart neckline, I think you’ll lose some of the fundamentals of the dress with a sweetheart.
