After a lot of talking, and some help from a sales person at Zales, my fiance finally agreed that exchanging the rings was the best option.
My first ring was very, very pretty. It was a cluster-style 7/8 carat ring that is unique and only a handful were made. However, it was not my forever ring. We’d have a hard time finding a band for it and I would want to upgrade in a few years, anyway. And he knew that when we bought it.
My new ring, which comes with a coordinating wedding band, was only a couple hundread dollars more, and had the larger center stone that I wanted. But still in the same halo-type setting. I’m in love… with my ring and fiance. 🙂 It is a 1 and 1/10 carat with an H center stone – old ring had J stones.
