How much are you paying for photography and what are you getting for that price? I am really struggling with finding a photographer that offers everything I want (2 photographers, at least 8 hours of coverage) in my price range, even though our budget is pretty generous. I really want to know specifically about New England because I notice prices here are generally much higher for photography/wedding stuff in general. Right now I am struggling with a photographer I love that is about $700 over budget, a photographer I also love that doesn’t offer nearly as much for the price (only 6 hours of coverage, medium vs. high resolution photos), or one who fits the budget but I like, not love, the photos. Bonus points if you have any suggestions for photographers around 3k in New Hampshire/Boston area.

Krises: I have 7 hours for $3400 with 2 photographers, high resolution photos. Unfortunately my photographer is retiring and we are his second to last wedding. So if your budget is $3000 and for 8 hours you were offered $3700, that sounds about on par.
Just a little fyi before you pick, this is really important. My photographer did me and my sister’s bat mitzvahs when were younger, so we KNOW that he’s a great photographer and we love working with him and his daughter. But here’s the scoop on making sure who you book is not a scam: http://offbeatbride.com/2014/03/fraudtography
ETA: If you are looking for video, I am working with Fisher Video from Manchester NH. Matt has been really awesome so far and the prices are very reasonable. The price includes from start to end of your event. He’s coming before the ceremony for when we sign the ketubah because he counts that as the start of the event! And he will stay until it ends, no matter what end time we gave him. If you want him to come before for getting ready and stuff there’s another charge. Here’s his website: http://www.fishervideoproductions.com/ My wedding is in August so I can let you know how my experience is after!

Thanks so much! The photog I really love is actually $3900 for 8 hours. I set our budget at $3200. I’m having a hard time deciding whether I want to go over budget, although I love her pics. I am trying to see if she will come down. I don’t want to regret not loving our pics, but starting out over budget on something is not a great premonition for the rest of planning. I’m trying to see where else I can cut from to make up for it, but I just don’t see anywhere.
I really want video, but my fiance isn’t on board. I am hoping to convince him otherwise. I will keep your suggestion in mind. I’m guessing we will wait until later and see if we can squeeze it into the budget or get a good deal for booking at the last minute.

check out http://www.clydeyeungphotography.com he has a few packages and takes amazing pictures (assuming you like his style). You can also check out http://www.nicolechanphotography.com, both based out of Boston.
Photographers in Boston areas are usually $3000-6000 range depending on your package.

I don’t have anything helpful since I’m toooo far north, but it’s crazy the price differences! When we were going to have a photographer, the quotes we got were $800-1700!

make sure you check out everyone’s work and see if you like their styles as well. Price is not that important compared to irreplaceable memories.

I’m getting married in CT but my photographer is from RI. She is $2300 for 8 hours and two photographers. I was so lucky to find someone I love for that price! If you want to check her out its Brittany Adams photography.
