I’m 28, living in Alberta Canada and recently engaged.
I have to say I love that this forum organizes by date so I can see what others with the same month are up too. After reading the posts in this section i think i am way far behind.
We have booked the venue which includes catering and tables and chairs and I have booked a Photographer. That is it!!!!!
Do i have time to do everything by June 15th? I would like to save as much $$$ as possible and will be doing the decorating and as much as possible myself. And it is a very small (2 on each side) wedding party and a casual like setting taking place in a old fashioned western “town site”.
Can i do this?????

My wedding is next June and I have lots of stuff booked, but you will be fine! I am just one of those early planners. You have the big stuff booked, the venue and the photographer. I would go look at dresses soon (some take months to come in and then alterations). In my opinion, you are fine..but I would start looking around for DJ’s, bridesmaid dress, cakes, etc.:) Good luck and no worries!!:)

Of course you can do this. Make a list of what needs to be done, priorize the list and knock things off the list one by one.
Make sure you do your budget first and allocate some money for a contingency fund, so if something goes over it’s not going to be a major problem.
I’m sure all the bees will be more than happy to help with ideas.
Remember we do not all have magazine weddings. We live in the real world, but simple and pretty will trump expensive and gaudy every time.

You can absolutely do this!
I’d recommend making a priority list of what you still have to do, and just start working your way down– personally I found theknot.com to have the best planning checklist.
The biggest time constraint you’ll hit is with your dress because many salons require as much as 3 months to order; so if you haven’t started, I’d recommend thinking about that.

Thanks for the encouragment . I will start working on my list ASAP. I remembered the only other thing i have done so far is buy brooches! I really want to do brooch bouquets and have become quite obsessed with finding brooches LOL

Ha! you have more than me, and I’m doing a destination wedding!! I have the ceremon/reception site already “booked”, bought a dress and have received several quotes from photographers but have not chosen one. That is IT.
By the way, when are you ladies doing the save the dates?

@Monana: oooh good question! Do you do them as soon as you know a date or is there protocol for that? We already had a close call with a July date, days from booking and we found out a cousin was getting married that weekend.

Yay for June 2013 brides. You’re doing great. Yes get your list going. Assign tasks for your Fiance and just plug along. We’re DOYing a lot for our out of state wedding. When it gets closer we’ll probably end up hiring people to finish what we couldn’t 🙂

@Monana: We’re actually sending them Sept 1st. We’re doing one visit to Idaho to see some family before the CA wedding in June. We want people to be able to ask questions and have the STD to refer back to. I read 6-12 months depending on your wedding i.e. in state, destination, during holidays, high travel season etc.

Oh you’re TOTALLY fine!! I got married in June, and by mid-August of the previous year, all I’d taken care of was the venue/catering.

Girl I hear ya! We have had an intensely busy summer (not that that will change come fall…) and we’ve only checked a few (albeit major, like venue) items off our list. It’s easy to feel intimidated when all our wonderful month twins seem to be so good at planning ahead! I’m just taking it as a great way to find inspiration and hear advice on all the stuff I can’t even think about tackling yet… Like pretty much ALL DIY projects…

And of course you have time to plan the rest! I’ve seen bees on here plan in less time and have a beautiful wedding!
I am doing my own decorations as well (including centerpeices), so it all depends on what kind of decor you’re going for! I’ve been shopping at craft stores, walmart, etc.
