- Wedding: March 2014
I’m an Australian bride but have found the action in any Australian forums rather lackluster so was glad to find this! My fiance and I have been engaged six months now and we’re getting married in March 2014. We still have 10 months before the wedding, but I wanted to start dress hunting early! I’m envious of the brides to be here who were able to take photos, none of the boutiques I went to let me 🙁 But after what felt like a rather exhaustive search I finally found my dream dress! (which is being made to measure, I am so excited)
Sadly it will be a number of months before I can take a photo in my gown so here’s some photos of it worn by other real brides. I’m wearing the same belt, but will be removing the one-shoulder strap and adding two gathered cap sleeves in the same lace as the gown.
It’s from Melbourne designer Mariana Hardwick. The first time we went to their emporium I fell in love with their gowns, their fabrics and their service. I am so excited to be getting my dress made from there!
Found it my third dress buying trip, and my first with my mum & mum-in-law. I hadn’t picked it from the rack, but the assistant thought it would tick all the boxes and she wasn’t wrong! We went to a couple of other places that trip but I found myself comparing everything to this gown. My love for it grew exponentially over the following week and I went back with my mum last Sunday, and tried on a ton of other gowns there in different silhouettes. There was one ballgown that I quite liked but decided it would be way OTT for my venue-rooftop-6pm-Friday-by-the-sea wedding. When I put this on again I burst into tears, it was obviously perfect!
This is a slim A-line and doesn’t have much of a train, and I must say the more I look at other brides big wedding-y delights I have to say I’m second guessing whether I should have picked something with a little more volume, but I keep thinking back to walking out in it and feeling like a princess, so I’m going to try not to let those thoughts eat into my brain 😛 I’ve lost 90lbs and really want to show off my figure! I may opt for a chapel or cathedral length veil to give it some oomph. I’m aiming for vintage/classic theming and I think this fits that to a tee! So generous of my parents who are paying for my gown and didn’t even really give me a budget! (as long as the price wasn’t too outrageous). I am so excited to start the measurements & fitting process at the end of July 🙂
