Hi bees! First of all, this is my first post. I’ve been a long time lurker (even before I was engaged!) and now that I’m getting started on getting everything ready for the wedding, I find myself coming on here more and more so I figured it’s about time I hop on these boards and communicate with other brides to BEE! My wedding is set for October 15th, and I was very sure that all I wanted to do was go to the courthouse and have a big party afterwards UNTIL I started to look at invites, dresses and etc… (THANKS PINTEREST!) Now, I still want it to be quick and cheap. and we’re still having a big party afterwards back at the house! I’ve started to look for officiants and found one reasonably priced (about $175) and started looking at parks. The only thing is that my favorite park here (and several others) state that chairs and arches aren’t allowed so I don’t know how I’m gonna work around that We’ve already booked our honeymoon (CANCUN!) to lock in the great price the place was offering. I’ve been researching dresses, and invites the most lately though. I’m a very crafty person and I could’nt find ANY online that I liked so I decided to start making my own. I threw together a rough draft last night of what I WANT it to look like, but I’m not near finished. Now, I have just a few questions!
If you made your own invites, how long did you give yourself to make them? We’re expecting about 50 or so people. I want to use cardstock and the pocket folders and all that jazz.
PARK WEDDING, BUT THE PARK DOES’NT ALLOW CHAIRS?! I’ve yet to call and see if this is strongly enforced. I’ve read you can use hay bails but holy moly that’s a lot of extra work lol, and I dont particularily want hay bails! Anyone else have this dilema?
Thanks for the answers! I look forward to chatting with some of you and and making new friends! And thanks for reading! 🙂

Yikes, haven’t heard of parks not allowing chairs before…. we we looked into at least 6 differant parks.
Our ceremony site is actually a historic building, and we’ll be using the town “community center” for our reception. Both provide chairs!

Ive been a lurker for about a year and just joined myself haha! Welcome and congrats on your upcoming wedding. I am having a court house ceremony. Ive picked my dress, going to make my birdcage veil and might get a bouquet and bout for my Fiance. Wanted to do it at a park or something but June is pretty rainy here in Miami so private 10 guests wedding at the court and a dinner afterward at a local restaurant it is. We are having a stretch Chrysler or Hummer to escort us and the wedding guests to court and dinner, and that night my Fiance and I will stay at the Hardrock hotel. We just left PR in february but plan to do Jamaica later for an official honeymoon. Wishing you the best with your plans and hope to see you around!

@jenilynevette: That sounds like a great idea also! I know I was so bummed about the no chair thing 🙁 I guess I can understand because the legs can mess up the grass? I’ve seen so many weddings there before and I just can’t figure out if they brought chairs anyways, or if they figured something else out! I’m planning on calling though and seeing what other arrangements I can make if there are any. Crossing my fingers!
@PocahontasP: Thank you and congrats to you too! That sounds like an awesome time! I wish Fiance didn’t have so much family and friends! haha. Our problem with the courthouse now is that everyone wants to come and I think the max we can have in there is 6. But he already has mom, dad, sister, brother, grandma… there’s barely room for my family! and all of our friends would like to see us get married and not just come to the party. Which is kind of why we kinda started to change our minds about the courthouse thing too. I absolutely LOVE the limo idea though! You’re giving me ideas!
