Me, personally. I’ve tough it for a month. If it isn’t something that is working by then, i’d find another job. People change as time goes on too. i remember starting my jobs on the first week/day/month. It could be hard! The one coworker I was terrified 6 years ago, well she’s know my best friend. Give it time to see.

I definitely don’t think one week is enough time to really see how this job suits you. Give it at least a month.

yeah, i’d definitely give it more time. with any new job, there always seems to be a bit of a learning curve and it takes a while for everything to “click.”

I’m sorry you’re having a rough time adjusting. I’d stick it out a little longer though and see. Starting a new job is always tough. When I worked in IT I had a really hard time learning how to troubleshoot (mainly because I’m not THAT tech savvy which they knew and said was fine and that I would learn as I go..). It was difficult and I hated going to work feeling inadequate but I had to stick it out cause I had no other job prospects. I’m glad I did. I mean I’m not jumping into another IT job anytime soon but it definitely got better and I learned so much (and is where I met SO!)

I would at least give it another month, but more like 2-3 to adjust. I would also start sending out job applications if this isn’t where you see yourself being happy.

Do you have any coworkers who do the same job as you? Can you ask them for help? To look over your work? For tips?

I can definitely relate. It’s not easy 🙁 I guess I had more support though as there were 8 other analysts doing the same job as me so I would annoy the shit out of them with my questions instead of asking my scary supervisor. Maybe the next time she criticizes you for a task, ask her for her help. “Hey I’m sorry but I’m having trouble with xyz, do you mind going over this with me again?” If she’s really a bitch and won’t even give you the time of day to teach you or go over WHY you’re making mistakes, then I’d probably start looking for another job.

It’s always rough adjusting to a new job and new coworkers.  Give it some time.  You will get the hang of it!
