LilliV : Yes I am in the US. And relative to other careers, teachers are not expensive, but a new teacher with a master’s is in my state because you only need a bachelor’s + teaching certificate to teach. The districts around me still give a pay bump for master’s degrees. Yes, of course not much is comparison to other industries, but it’s still a decent increase. I think it’s fair to say that we all realize teachers are grossly underpaid for what they do, but all I was trying to say is I think it’s best not to make waves as a new employee. Until you get that tenure under your belt, you’re pretty much at the mercy of the district.
