MsNightOwl9:  you have gotten good advice…. Not sure why you are bumping. Check with your company’s HR. Since you are in the south, I doubt your state has anything for you.

I started at my company when I was 12 weeks.  I didn’t qualify for FMLA, but they have a policy that gives the manager certain discretion.  He sent me an email showing that he approved me using all my sick time.  My company has a fantastic sick time policy. Even with only being there 6 months, I got 8 weeks paid leave.  Had I had a vaginal delivery, I would have gotten 6 weeks leave because the deal was I could use sick time until I was released by the doctor, which apparently doesn’t happen until 8 weeks after a c-section.  I was thrilled.  Just talk to your potential supervisor and see what he/she can do.  But get it in writing.

MsNightOwl9:  The company I work for works with Colonial Ins. Company, so my policy is through them.  From what other people are saying, it sounds like there’s a ton of variabillity.  Can you get in touch with the company’s HR department and find out what their policy is?
