Hi everyone! I’ve been engaged for over a month now, but have only just joined! Thought I’d share my engagement story 🙂
i had suspected he was going to propose while we where on holiday in North Queensland, but the week before we were due to go away he told me he wasn’t going to do it then, and I was devastated!
at this point, my mother had gotten engaged before me (knowing that I had suspected we where getting engaged soon, she’s always been competitive with me) and that was a horrid blow too.
So Tuesday night, I get a text from a photographer friend of mine who said he wanted to do some portraits seeing as he hasn’t in a while and wanted to know if my boyfriend and I wanted to do it for him. I said yes, and then realised the date for that was Valentines Day! Thinking it was a huge coincidence I tried not to get too excited in case he wasn’t proposing then.
The spot they had chosen was one of my favourite beaches I’ve grown up on, and they made me walk over to the island for photos. I’m now a little suss as my sister had come last minute, and had to go back for her camera bag. We spent half an hour taking photos, and started walking up the island, and my boyfriend said we had to meet my sister… This didn’t make sense, I was thinking, why doesnt she just meet us at the car???
So we get closer to her, and I see a huge heart in the sand filled with my favourite shells – cowrie shells – and in the middle of them all was the one shell I had always wanted in my collection and I’d only told him this Monday! He faked it off as a Valentines day present, until I turned around and he was on one knee and proposed! Was absolutely perfect, the place, he had a fellow photographer capture it like I wanted, the cowrie shells! He did the cowries also, because I’ve always had a reoccuring dream of walking along that beach and finding so many cowries I couldn’t carry them. The funniest part was he didnt want to propose on valentines day, but it was the only day he could as I was going to a similar the next day all weekend haha, and I had told him I ddidn’t want a ring from prouds – he got the fake proposal ring from there lol! Found out he’d also had to drive two hours to buy the shells on Tuesday and almost forgot me at work because he was that late too haha
sorry it was so long! Here’s a photo from the photographer, still haven’t gotten the rest back from the photog.
