Hi everyone, I’m new to weddingbee and I need some help!
My Maid/Matron of Honor (who is the only one in my bridal party besides a flower girl) is pregnant and due to have her first child one month before the wedding! I’m very happy for her! I just don’t know what kind of dress she needs to get. Does she get a maternity dress even though she won’t technically be pregnant anymore? When do we shop for the dress? Since she’s the only one do we hold off and get one off the rack the month of?
And advice would be great!

An empire waist dress would leave room for her post partum tummy. She should be sure to buy a size large enough in the bust area for the anticipated increase in her breast size. It is much easier to take a dress in than to let it out of there is not enough fabric in the seams.

Congrats to your Maid/Matron of Honor. I think you are handling this really well. I have 2 kids and have done bridal alterations. So, my recommendation would be to buy a dress soon… before she starts showing too much. I would order it a size larger than she is pre-pregnancy. She will still have some weight and tummy bulge at your wedding, so I would keep that into consideration when choosing a dress. I would do something with draping/rouching at the waist, or an empire waist. The last thing she will want to do right after she has a baby is go dress shopping. Also, I doubt you are going to want to stress about this while you are doing other last minute wedding stuff. Good luck (fellow Dec. bride)!

If I were you I would wait and just get one off the rack the month-of. Since she doesn’t have to match anyone, it will (should) be easy to find something you both agree on!

@helokiti1014: Recommend you seek the input of your Maid/Matron of Honor and the advice of a saavy bridal store pro. Between the three of you, you’ll get some good options!
